  • 5/5 from Colleen Checkley, attended May 2026: My mum and I had lovely time with our teacher Narda! Learnt alot about different yarn dyeing techniques and how to crochet. As a beginner, Narda was very informative and supportive to help me understand every step of the crocheting process.
  • 5/5 from Jasmine Reddy, attended Dec 2024: This was an absolutely wonderful workshop! Narda is a phenomenal teacher - patient, kind and knowledgeable, she made us feel right at ease and nothing felt rushed. What I particularly loved was how accessible the workshop was - everything we were shown was something we could do ourselves at home, and we were given handouts with instructions and helpful information. We got to meet her delightful noodle Brie, snack on freshly baked cake and tea, and chat about crochet and our lives. It was eye opening and inspiring learning from Narda, and I thank her for sharing her space, time and expertise with us. Not only did we leave with beautiful skeins of yarn we got to dye ourselves, but we also felt a refreshed passion and appreciation for crochet. I 100% recomend taking a class with her, it is beyond worth it.

As a fibre artist, designer, teacher, and history enthusiast, I am fascinated by all forms of colour and pattern in daily life as expressions of culture and identity.
I love teaching and sharing what I know, helping people to stretch their skills, create new experiences & explore their own creativity.
I firmly believe there is no such thing as a non-creative person.
Everyone has the potential to be creative.
It could be in cooking, gardening, interior design, writing, or, as in my case, fibre arts.
As a teacher with over 30 years of experience, I get a real buzz when a student who hasn't tried a specific craft before - not only masters it, but becomes excited by the ways they can use their new skill.
I started in Jewellery design when I was in my early 20s, and then discovered that all the things I love to do (design, dye, draw, felt, paint, etc.) can be applied to the practice of 'Hand or Surface Embroidery'.
I taught the 'Foundation course' in Colour & Design at the International School of Colour & Design.
I am a published textile designer & also ran week-long textile experiences in Tasmania during the January holidays for 8 years.
I have exhibited many of my pieces in a variety of spaces & had one piece auctioned off to raise money for the Embroiderers Guild of NSW.
My influences come from various parts of history, both ancient and modern, as well as the natural world (especially birds & fish) & the written word.
I love to read.
I collect folktales & poetry.
These interests often show up in my work - in quotes or images inspired by what I've read.
I bring all of these experiences & interests to my teaching of hand embroidery and encourage students to explore the potential of this ancient art form.
I also utilize these influences in my other design practices, including wirework, upcycling clothing & free form crochet and knitting.
I also teach spinning - I dye & spin my own yarn.
Please let me know if there is anything I can help you with.
