Creating a safe space

Creating a Safe Space

Tanya will introduce herself and run through how the session will work. She'll cover house rules for writing and sharing difficult experiences.
You'll get to know the rest of the group and set boundaries to ensure everyone is completely comfortable with what's ahead.

Therapeutic writing introduction

Therapeutic Writing Introduction

Tanya will share some background on therapeutic writing and the science behind it. Then you'll learn some techniques for overcoming the blank page and getting started with writing.

Writing exercises

Writing Exercises

You'll work through 2-3 timed writing exercises.
Together you'll discuss the exercises - what felt good, what surprised you, and where you might take these short pieces.
We'll also talk about how you might develop your work.

Sharing

Sharing

Depending on the group, there will be the opportunity to share your writing.
No-one will be obliged to share, and participants will be encouraged to take time out if they need to.

In this therapeutic writing workshop, you'll learn how creative writing can be a healing activity, especially when writing about trauma. I'll guide you through various creative and therapeutic writing techniques to help you express yourself and unlock your potential. You'll discover the significant psychological and neurological benefits of therapeutic writing.
  • You may not always write about difficult experiences directly; you might explore fantasy worlds, craft erotica, weave thrilling adventures, or imagine fictional futures.
  • Pain may manifest in different ways in your writing, sometimes subtly beneath the surface or cleverly hidden in metaphors.
Through this workshop, you will:
  • Understand how therapeutic writing can bring healing
  • Learn how to express yourself creatively
  • Discover the power of storytelling
  • Explore different writing techniques
No matter where you are in your writing journey, I'm here to help you find your voice.
