3 hours Location Castle Hill Class size 8 to 12 guests   $79

Step into the delicate world of watercolour painting in this warm and inspiring art workshop, where you’ll bring two cuddling pink Galahs to life using soft washes, feathered textures, and romantic tones. If you’re looking for creative watercolour classes or bird painting workshops near you, this session offers a beautiful opportunity to explore expressive techniques while celebrating one of Australia’s most beloved native birds.
Guided by an experienced watercolour artist, you’ll work with the premium Winsor & Newton Professional Watercolour range on high-quality Fabriano paper, learning how to blend subtle tones, build soft texture, and capture the gentle charm of these iconic birds. From layering translucent colour to detailing plumage with precision, you’ll gain practical skills that bring your composition to life.
Inspired by nature and connection, this Australian bird painting workshop begins with guided exercises to help you explore key watercolour techniques, preparing you to create your own romantic Galah with confidence. Whether you’re a beginner just starting your painting journey or a more experienced artist looking to refine your style, this session offers a welcoming, hands-on learning experience.
Working with professional brushes and materials, you’ll be encouraged to slow down, experiment with colour, and embrace the meditative flow of watercolour painting. The relaxed studio setting makes it easy to connect with fellow creatives and enjoy the process of making art inspired by nature’s beauty.
All materials are provided for use during the session; just bring your curiosity and love for Australian wildlife. By the end of the workshop, you’ll take home your own tender, pink-toned Galah artwork and a renewed sense of artistic confidence.

The venue at Castle hill is like Aladdin’s cave, loved the music in the background.
  • 5/5 from Lisa Horrigan, attended Feb 2026: A great little introduction to watercolour and the techniques you need to be successful, or just have fun with colour. The facilitator is very clear in her instructions and helpful when you need a hand.
  • 5/5 from Natalie Lambert, attended Feb 2026: I really enjoyed the workshop. The teacher was easy to understand, knowledgeable, skillful and open to questions. She provided excellent support when needed and was very happy to repeat or reword instructions when requested. I would happily attend another of her workshops!
  • 4/5 from Kay O'Brien, attended Feb 2026: Enjoyable class and learnt new watercolour techniques. Not sure if I like the end result, but enjoyed the process.
  • 4/5 from Leslie Nicholson, attended Feb 2026: The teacher was very good. To improve it and make it easier for the teacher given the size of the class, I suggest having a sheet with colour swatches of the mixed colours to assist students to match them. E.g. when you mix red and blue the shade of purple depends on the proportion of each. I enjoyed the class. The paints were excellent quality too.
