You will learn the comprehensive Art Kintsugi method step by step, following the principle of ancient Kintsugi utilising accessible materials which enable you to enjoy the creative process in the comfort of your own home.
Please note that we will be using alternative materials such as resin and gold metal powder (not 24k gold)
The process includes the repair of damaged pieces (broken, cracked, missing fragments), preparation of the surface, then a decorative finish with Japanese lacquer and gold (brass) powder.
This live online class runs for three to four hours, conducted online via Zoom. There will be plenty of time for questions as you go to learn a lot about this beautiful Japanese craft.
After completing the class, you have a beautiful Kintsugi art piece and the skills to repair your own items at home. The kit also contains extra materials for you to continue your Kintsugi art. Your teacher can assist your further practise at home.

What is Kintsugi?
Kintsugi is the century-old Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with Japanese lacquer (Urushi) dusted with powdered gold giving a new life to when otherwise items would be thrown away. In recent years this craftsmanship has been regarded as an important traditional art to influence on Modern art around the world.
Philosophy
Kintsugi express Wabi-Sabi philosophy, an embracing of imperfection, whilst appreciating artefact’s history and personal memories. Instead of disguising the damages and bringing them to the original state, Kintsugi emphasises the defects with gold, symbolising life.

Recent reviews of Mindful Art Kintsugi at Home

  • 5/5 from Rachel Wylde-Browne, attended Aug 2026: Very informative and practically taught tutorial. Highly organised to ensure all required tools and equipment arrived in time to support the workshop. Very well taught.
  • 5/5 from Sarah White, attended Jun 2026: Yoko is such a clear instructor who shared great information about the history and practice of kintsugi as we went through the class.
  • 5/5 from Margaret Pham, attended Jun 2026: Teacher was very knowledgeable in everything kintsugi. The class was well paced and instructions were clear and concise. We worked on a small broken plate that came in the kit and Yoko also made time to discuss my own side project, a broken incense holder (see photos). The kit provided had everything I needed and it even had enough material to complete both projects with material to spare. Highly recommended class.
  • 5/5 from Gaby Bennett, attended Jun 2026: It was a nice way to spend a Saturday. Yoko is very knowledgeable about her craft. The tool kit had everything needed and was packaged beautifully.
  • 5/5 from Paula Watson, attended Apr 2026: The teacher was great and explained and demonstrated the process very well! Everything was provided and presented in a beautiful way!
  • 5/5 from Susan Clark, attended Apr 2026: Loved the Kintsugi class. Enjoyed hearing about the origins of the practice, learnt a lot. Yoko was great. Mindful to have breaks when we could. Loooved the kit that came. I had a misunderstanding about the redeeming of my gift card. It was not intuitive to redeem a gift card. I nearly bought 2 more sessions. That process could be clearer if you let ppl have a straightforward button, rather than trying to keep onselling to them.
  • 5/5 from Debbie Irving, attended Mar 2026: Yoko was so clear in her instructions and very encouraging. She also knows so much about Kintsugi and its evolution which she freely shares. The kit arrived well before the date of online class and the instructions about what I needed to provide were very clear. Now I have a beautiful piece. Thank you Yoko
  • 5/5 from Lynne Cafferky, attended Mar 2026: Yoko was a fabulous teacher. The zoom format worked well, she was very well organised and experienced and added an appropriate degree of historical context. I highly recommend if you are interested in learning the technique. Lynne
  • 5/5 from Kelly Makin, attended Oct 2025: The workshop was a wonderful opportunity to learn more about and experience the beautiful art of Kinstugi. The workshop was the perfect legnth of time to work through the practice and we learned so much along the way from Yoko. Yoko's depth of knowledge of this ancient art made us appreciate and understand it far more than we had prior to the workshop. Yoko was friendly, patient and explained and demonstrated every step precisely which made it surpprisingly easy to follow on Zoom and gave us the confidence to complete each step properly. Highly recommend this workshop and Yoko :)
  • 5/5 from Natasha d'Souza, attended Oct 2025: Yoko is an incredible teacher, sent me a kit with top quality materials that covered everything I needed during the class. Her detailed explanations, and historical background of the art form in Japan ware very interesting to learn about. The class was a mindful experience and helped me unwind after a stressful week, plus taught me a new skill to mend broken pottery. I highly recommend this class.
  • 5/5 from Tara, attended Sep 2025: Yoko is lovely and this class was a wonderful combination of practical and philosophy of Kintsugi all in comfort of my own space. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
  • 5/5 from Nat Levy, attended Sep 2025: Yoko was incredibly knowledgeable and skillful and patient! We learnt the original and modern way of kintsugi and some interesting history of how this practice started about 500-600 years ago. What I loved most about this class is that everything is provided and posted to you ready for the zoom and it is a very methodical and practical activity(and Yoko is just so lovely!) but at the end you can add in some artistic flare where you’d like the gold to finally sit. I would highly recommend this class! I can’t wait to see the final result after 5 days of drying time! Nat
  • 5/5 from Nicki White, attended Aug 2025: I loved my Mindful Art Kintsugi class with Yoko. She is an exceptional teacher and delves into the history of the art while teaching techniques. It was such a joy and the four hours flew by. This was a gift, was easy to redeem and fits in perfectly with my pottery
  • 5/5 from Rebecca Bower, attended Feb 2025: I was so thrilled with this beautiful Kintsugi class led by Yoko. It was so well prepared, from the welcome kit, to the clear and welcoming communication leading up to the course. The course was gifted to me by my partner, so I had no idea what to expect. Over the 4hours, Yoko taught me about the history of Kintsugi, its cultural significance and the way it is evolving. All the while she let me through step by step to the completion of my first piece. I feel buoyed up by the whole course and ready to explore my own Kintsugi projects.
  • 5/5 from Jen Dainer, attended Jan 2025: Yoko is a fantastic teacher. The class is well paced and I felt I had plenty of time to complete each activity. The end result is a beautiful finished piece, and enough supplies to complete many more projects on my own at home. Wonderful course, highly recommended. No issues doing the course online. Except for my cat meowing loudly in the background :)
  • 5/5 from Camille, attended Jan 2025: Incredible class. Yoko is so kind and knowledgeable. Would recommend x 1000000. Thank you, Yoko.
  • 5/5 from Sara Barrljung, attended Jan 2025: Loved this online class with Yoko that I did today! She explained and showed all the different steps, and the background to Kintsugi so well - giving me the confidence to continue on my own. The box with all the tools and material that had been sent to me, was really thought through, I even have enough material for several pieces. I have spent the rest of the afternoon doing Kintsugi and really enjoying the process. Many thanks, Sara
  • 5/5 from Nicola Jones, attended Nov 2024: I could not recommend this at home course enough. The pace Yoko teaches at is perfect. We were kept busy but also learning the philosophy of this beautiful art. I received the kit box a week before and it was full of treasures and had everything required. I was unable to attend any of Yoko’s in person classes but this was an excellent alternative. I just now have to wait 5 days before I can clean off my beautiful gold pigment and see the final result. All good things come to those who wait.
  • 5/5 from Anonymised ClassBento customer, attended Nov 2024: Yoko has excellent teaching skills that she used effectively for this online class. Although I expect that face to face classes would be even better, tis is a good option for people who can’t make it to the studio!
  • 5/5 from Anonymised ClassBento customer, attended Nov 2024: Loved the whole class and it was very mindful. It was all so easy to attend this class every thing was done so professionally, and organised.

  • 5/5 from Errin Hewlett, attended Sep 2024: Excellent class - Yoko has such a lovely presence and knowledge of the art. It was easy to keep up and is taught in a manner that enables you to take on your own project outside of this class. Very calming and interesting.
  • 5/5 from Claire Louise Wright, attended Aug 2024: 'Mindful Art Kintsugi at Home' is a gorgeous class. Yoko is not only an expert in her craft, but also a fine teacher, making the highly technical process interactive, well-paced and easy to follow - even on Zoom! She is also, of course, steeped in the philosophy, history and culture of Japan, which added layer upon layer of interest. The 'bento' class box, received in advance, was beautifully presented, and contained not only everything required to produce a piece of art kintsugi - but also matcha tea and a Japanese sweet, for tea break! Having long admired Kintsugi as an art form and philosophy, it was so enriching to have the experience of actually doing it - and to produce something I am sincerely delighted with. Warm thanks to Yoko-san, and to ClassBento, for creating such amazing opportunities!
  • 5/5 from David Kay, attended Jun 2024: This class was excellent - Yoko explained each step really well, and gave us lots of information about the art of kintsugi. It felt very relaxing, unhurried, and a nice way to spend a morning. Plus I now have the tools and knowledge to do more.
