  • 5/5 from Carol Francis, attended Aug 2026: Clive and Sally go above and beyond to make sure this is a great experience with a combination of making you do some of the hard bits, and showing you how to do the rest. I made something I'm pretty proud of and am in awe of the other lovely creations other people made. If you love lead light and want to learn how, this is the place.
  • 5/5 from Rhoda O, attended Aug 2026: The classes were great, you worked on a project you wanted to do, this could be a lampshade to a lead light panel to whatever you imagination decides. They will explain if this is a doable project or how to bring it's back to something you can achieve over the 6 weeks and ensures you get to complete all aspect of the process. I can't wait for the next class to delve deeper into the techniques. They so sell glass and the other equipment  (aside from the kit included in the price) to be able to achieve your project. The teachers were great; they kept an eye on what you were doing and were happy to answer questions.
  • 4/5 from Carl Stewart, attended Aug 2026: This is quite an intensive course where you can work to produce some really beautiful work over the course of six weeks. You go through all the steps to create a stained glass piece in a great studio with both an experienced teacher who has worked extensively in the field and a new teacher who is knowledgeable and very helpful throughout the whole process. Clive and Sally are friendly and lovely to be around. You have the free use of cutting tools and practice glass in the first week of class, as well as the use of specific tools and some materials in the later weeks. One thing that is not clear on the website is that following the first week of the class, you will need to purchase a tool kit and all of the glass for the project you choose to make. This will be an extra $150 minimum, most likely more depending on the size of your piece. There's nothing inherently wrong with the extra cost, but the class participants were not aware that this was the case and felt blindsided by the extra cost. This is a problem for those who are gifted the course as well. It would be great to see more specific and clear information pre-booking about the potential total cost of the course, including the tool kit prices and glass estimates. I am very happy with the finished product and the experience working with stained glass overall, but some more clarity of information on the website is necessary, especially considering cost of living nowadays. Thanks again to Clive and Sally!

  • 5/5 from Allan Scott, attended Oct 2025: Want to learn a new skill with an expert teacher, then this is a wonderful option. Clive takes you on a six week journey from fear to amazement on what you have created. You will want to come back for more. I did. Thank you Clive. Allan Scott
  • 5/5 from Belinda Taylor, attended Oct 2025: A great course with friendly, knowledgeable and experienced teachers.
  • 5/5 from Caroline Doss, attended Oct 2025: Kate & Clive are wonderful teachers
  • 5/5 from Sharon Campbell, attended Aug 2025: Clive is super talented and a great instructor. The stained glass course is fun and relaxed but you learn lots of skills including lead/copper foil design, glass cutting, soldering, puttying and polishing. Generally you can do a small lead window piece or copper foil in the glass but Clive is also open to consider bigger diy projects - such as my window piece (wip photo attached). I'd definitely recommend!
  • 5/5 from Amy Cheong, attended Aug 2025: I learnt so much about making stained glass during this 6 weeks workshop. Clive and Sally are so helpful in explaining how things work and very patient in helping us.
  • 5/5 from Coco Finemore, attended Aug 2025: Stained glass class with Clive and Sally was terrific! Friendly, insightful and always supportive - looking forward to taking another course here in the future :)
  • 5/5 from Meegan Smith, attended Aug 2025: I’m a returning student, multiple times over, as there is always something to learn or practice. Clive is great at working with all students on their various projects and catering to their needs. Probably why I have booked in for another term!
  • 5/5 from Nikki Vlattas, attended Jun 2025: My daughter & I did the Stained Glass course together, we had such a great time. Clive & his helpers there were fantastic and we learnt so much. Thank you so much, this course is a must, we thoroughly enjoyed our mother/daughter time together being creative in this course.
  • 5/5 from Eva Zhang, attended Jun 2025: Clive is a very knowledgeable and expereinced leadlight glass artist! Good instruction and very patient. I enjoyed Clive and Sally's support to create my beautiful copper foil piece!
  • 5/5 from Amy Ho, attended Jun 2025: I decided to do this course as it was too costly to pay for an expert to create missing panels for my front door. It is incredible to believe I made my own under Clive's guidance in 6 weeks. Clive is so patient, friendly and has a wealth of knowledge to share. A fabulous learning experience. Look forward to doing another class with Clive.
  • 5/5 from Meegan Smith, attended Jun 2025: Great class with experienced guidance and support!
  • 5/5 from Mia Harrison, attended Apr 2025: This was really a great and comprehensive course, and I learnt so much on only 6 lessons. We had the opportunity to learn lead came or copper foil methods, and I was able to learn the fundamentals of both techniques, completing one piece and almost finishing my second. Clive taught all the basic steps but also gave tips on things like designing pieces that will work and glass suppliers, which really helped me feel confident to continue creating at home. He also had colleagues step in and support so we always had someone available to help, and he took steps to make sure everyone could finish their pieces, either by helping out or offering for them to come in again after the course finished. I highly recommend this class for anyone interesting in learning all the steps from taking a design to a finished glass piece. I’ll also caution anyone considering the class to prepare to spend a bit more over the weeks as you get tools, glass, supplies, etc. Clive was able to source everything I needed from his supplier, which made it easier, but you’ll probably spend a few hundred during the class (depending on the glass you want to use and whether you have access to tools already).
  • 5/5 from Sean Adamson, attended Apr 2025: I recently took part in a leadlighting course and really enjoyed the experience. It was a great introduction to the basic skills—cutting glass, leading, and soldering—which were all taught clearly and patiently. The hands-on nature of the class helped everything click, and it gave me the confidence to move ahead with a larger project I’ve been considering for my bathroom window. Clive, our instructor, was knowledgeable and encouraging, creating a relaxed environment that made it easy to ask questions and learn at my own pace. I’m definitely looking forward to further lessons and building on what I’ve learned.
  • 5/5 from Herman Ivanoff, attended Apr 2025: The class is enjoyable and accessible for all skill levels. From beginners to people who already have some of the relevant skills. Low stress and high enjoyment with the flexibility to create something that's truly your own.
  • 5/5 from Allan Scott, attended Feb 2025: Loved the course. To learn a new enjoyable skill come to Clive Hillier’s stained glass course. Clive is a most talented educator is his profession, delivered with a gentle humour and pace. It is easy to learn from him. In a few short weeks you will learn how to make a your own stained glass window, which is really satisfying. Keep your design simple, if it’s your first go, and everything is provided except for the glass, with good humour and a relaxed atmosphere. You are required to take your project home each time so take advice on how to do this from Clive and quickly you will create your own system. It is easy to do. Finally, for me, the best part was the tea break with Clive’s biscuits and the chat….loved it. Thank you Clive and classmates for a most enjoyable course. I’ll be back! Allan
  • 5/5 from Tharini Ganess, attended Feb 2025: Clive is so knowledgeable and patient. Couldn’t ask for a better teacher. It’s an excellent course that will give you all the foundations of stained glass and lead-lighting, all while listening to Clive’s excellent playlist. Tips: -Have a good idea of what you want to make before the course starts, because 6 weeks goes really quickly. You want to make the most of that time and have a completed piece by the end. - start looking at what art glass is available so you get an idea of patterns and textures for your project…and how much it’s going to cost you. (You’ll have to buy some tools, equipment and glass based one the piece you want to create)
  • 5/5 from Nina Thomas, attended Feb 2025: Clive was super helpful and encouraging to help you create what you want in only 6 weeks! Super happy with my lampshade and Clive helped down to design, colour scheme and advise on all the tools needed!!
  • 5/5 from Renee Falez, attended Feb 2025: a very rewarding class! clive is lovely, very generous with his time and energy. an excellent introduction to glass.
  • 5/5 from Robyn Sinclair, attended Feb 2025: Clive is a very gifted stained glass artist and makes the class very enjoyable while teaching a challenging craft. The course is thoroughly enjoyable and would highly recommend to anyone wanting to learn lead lighting...it's very satisfying to realise what you have made within 6 weeks thanks to Clive.
  • 5/5 from Georgia Jane Carr, attended Oct 2024: Michael was an excellent teacher! Highly recommmend :)
  • 5/5 from Ben Latham, attended Jun 2024: This is something I've been wanting to do for a while, Clive is an amazing instructor that makes everyone feel welcome in the studio. Clive has a wealth of knowledge that he's happy to share with everyone. Clive was able to help me source all supplies and materials to complete my project and he's taught me skills that I can take with me to tackle my own projects at home. I couldn't be happier with the course that was provided.
  • 5/5 from Timothy Ian Maher, attended Apr 2024: I designed and made glass bunting (eight sets of the photo). Clive was a good teacher who explained all the techniques in the first week and then helped me get the project together for the other five. I would recommend coming with a design/idea of what you wanted to do. The regulars were all really welcoming.
