  • 5/5 from Gill Gordon, attended Sep 2026: I just wanted to say a massive thank you for the crochet class yesterday from both myself and my daughter. We had an absolutely fantastic time! You are such a talented and knowledgeable teacher, and it was wonderful getting to know you and hearing about all your other talents and interests too. You made the class so special, and we are so grateful for the experience. We got straight into some practice last night and are really seeing results already! We are really getting the hang of it. Thanks again for everything.
  • 5/5 from Ruchika Rawat, attended Aug 2026: I had such a wonderful morning at Narda's crochet class! Narda is incredibly kind, patient, and very knowledgeable. She taught me three different crochet stitches and explained everything clearly, making it easy to follow even as a beginner. Her studio is lovely and filled with beautiful examples of different crochet projects, which was both inspiring and motivating. She also provided helpful handouts covering crochet terminology, stitches, and recommendations on where to buy yarn, which I really appreciated. Narda was so warm and welcoming, offering me tea, cookies, and fresh strawberries during the class. Her dogs also had such a loving and calming energy, which made the whole experience even more relaxing. I left feeling inspired. I was even crocheting on the train ride home! It is such a calming activity. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I would highly recommend Narda's crochet class to anyone wanting to learn crochet in a friendly, supportive, and encouraging environment. Ruchika
  • 5/5 from Marina van Niekerk, attended Aug 2026: Narda is truly an excellent teacher. I was so nervous to start, but her calm and patient way of explaining and allowing me to take my time in mastering just a hook, was so comforting. I loved that she showed me different options of what you can make in future. That gave me more confidence in persuing this, because maybe oneday I can also master it! She even spoilt me with a lovely piece of chocolate cake and tea!! I came with zero knowledge and left there knowing how to do three stitches. Very proud of myself. I defiinitely recommend Narda's class to anyone who has never crochet before.
  • 5/5 from Nicole Castro, attended Jul 2026: Instructor was amazing, she explained everything so well and was able to adapt instructions for left and right handers. If we were confused she’d repeat the steps and simplify her explanations until we got it and gave us time to get more confident with a stitch before moving onto the next skill. Definitely will be going back for another class once I am able to do all the beginner skills more efficiently!!!
  • 5/5 from Christine Pratley, attended Jul 2026: This was such an informative class with Narda. The 3 hours went so quickly and I could have talked with her endlessly. I learnt and saw about all the different types of crochet hooks. Learnt and felt all different amazing types of yarn and a bit about dying your own yarn. Looked and tried on different clothes that had been made, feeling what different wools and the way they were made felt like. This was the BEST gift card my kids could have given me for Mother’s Day. Would love to go back and learn more from Narda.
  • 5/5 from Kathy Whitham, attended May 2026: Narda was friendly and very knowledgeable. I went along with my daughter, neither of us ever picking up a crochet hook and left knowing 3 different stitches and being able to make a scarf. Great!

As a fibre artist, designer, teacher, and history enthusiast, I am fascinated by all forms of colour and pattern in daily life as expressions of culture and identity.
I love teaching and sharing what I know, helping people to stretch their skills, create new experiences & explore their own creativity.
I firmly believe there is no such thing as a non-creative person.
Everyone has the potential to be creative.
It could be in cooking, gardening, interior design, writing, or, as in my case, fibre arts.
As a teacher with over 30 years of experience, I get a real buzz when a student who hasn't tried a specific craft before - not only masters it, but becomes excited by the ways they can use their new skill.
I started in Jewellery design when I was in my early 20s, and then discovered that all the things I love to do (design, dye, draw, felt, paint, etc.) can be applied to the practice of 'Hand or Surface Embroidery'.
I taught the 'Foundation course' in Colour & Design at the International School of Colour & Design.
I am a published textile designer & also ran week-long textile experiences in Tasmania during the January holidays for 8 years.
I have exhibited many of my pieces in a variety of spaces & had one piece auctioned off to raise money for the Embroiderers Guild of NSW.
My influences come from various parts of history, both ancient and modern, as well as the natural world (especially birds & fish) & the written word.
I love to read.
I collect folktales & poetry.
These interests often show up in my work - in quotes or images inspired by what I've read.
I bring all of these experiences & interests to my teaching of hand embroidery and encourage students to explore the potential of this ancient art form.
I also utilize these influences in my other design practices, including wirework, upcycling clothing & free form crochet and knitting.
I also teach spinning - I dye & spin my own yarn.
Please let me know if there is anything I can help you with.
