Q: I’m a total beginner. Will I feel out of place?
Not at all. This class is specifically designed for beginners, and we teach everything step-by-step in a supportive environment. No prior experience is needed — just curiosity.
Q: Do I need to bring my own makeup?
You can, but you don’t have to. We provide all the makeup you’ll need for the session. If you’d like personalised advice on some of the products you already own, feel free to bring them along.
Q: Do I need brushes?
Yes — please bring your own brushes or pre-purchase our professional brush set. We recommend our set as it matches the tools we teach with, making it easier to follow along. If you do not have the correct brushes, it will directly impact your ability to learn the techniques we teach during the class. If you are unsure if your brushes are suitable, please reach out to our Academy Team.
Q: What age is this class suitable for?
Anyone aged 13 and up. We have teens, mums, adults, mature learners and even grandmothers join us. The class is adaptable for every age and comfort level.
Q: What if my skin is textured, mature or difficult to work with?
You’re in the right place. We teach the why behind skin prep, undertones and product choice, so you’ll learn techniques suited to your skin — not just trends.
Q: I feel overwhelmed by tutorials — will this help?
Yes. Tutorials usually skip the fundamentals. We teach skin structure, undertones, brush technique and a repeatable system — so you understand what you’re doing, instead of copying.
Q: What will I learn exactly?
You’ll learn skincare basics, undertone matching, brush use, contouring, troubleshooting mistakes, our JV Versa-Style eye technique (unlimited looks in three steps), and how to choose your perfect everyday lip shade. You’ll complete a full face on yourself with guided support.
Q: Is the class hands-on?
Completely. You’ll be applying makeup on yourself from start to finish with personalised help along the way.

Yes — we use a wide range of professional products suitable for different skin types, tones, textures and ages. We’ll also help you understand what to look for when shopping in future.
