What you'll do
This brand new weaving workshop is designed especially for kids who’ve been to our workshops before and are ready to try something new!Using a custom cardboard loom they’ll make themselves, participants will learn the basics of hand weaving and experiment with colour, texture, and pattern. We’ll explore three simple techniques — to create a beautiful mini wall hanging, finished with a piece of dowel for display at home.This is a relaxed, mindful project that encourages kids to slow down and enjoy the process of building something by hand. If they don’t finish during the session, they’ll leave with their loom and yarn so they can keep weaving during the holidays.What Kids Will Learn:
- How to set up (warp) a simple cardboard loom
- Three foundational weaving techniques: tabby, rya knots, and sumac
- How to create pattern and texture using yarn
- Tips for finishing and hanging their woven piece
- The joy of slow, process-based making
- Our secure space is only accessible to participants.
- All instructors have valid Working with Children Checks.
- Parents must drop off & pick up children in person and complete a short admission form.

Made by Me Workshop is about helping people to connect with their "inner creative" and have some fun while making beautiful things from quality materials in our friendly & vibrant studio space in the heart of the inner west!Established in 2017 after Rebecca Doyle decided to take a career break and chose to revisit her childhood love for arts & crafts. Rebecca grew up in a large family where money was tight, after school activities where mostly homegrown and usually involved a sheet of cardboard, a glue stick and some glitter!
