Beginners Studio Lighting Photography Class

If your lighting is at the mercy of the sun and the photos on your screen never quite match the ones in your head, this is where that changes.This is a hands-on beginners' workshop at Siren Studios in Botany. There are only five photographers in each group, so everyone gets real one-on-one time and spends most of the afternoon with a camera in their hand. No lecture at the back of a crowded studio, no pre-built lighting setup you just press the shutter on.There's no professional model either. You take photos of each other, so as well as lighting, you learn how to pose and direct a real person who might not be totally comfortable in front of the camera.We start from a blank black frame and build the light up one at a time, so you understand exactly what each light adds before the next one goes up. Bring a lighting photo you'd love to recreate, and we'll pull it apart together, reading the setup from its shadows and catchlights.
