Pottery Wheel Class for Beginners: A Wheelfulness Experience

Slow down, center and create

1 hour Class size 1 to 4 guests

$75 (Afterpay & PayPal Pay in 4 available)

This beginner-friendly pottery class offers a mindful introduction to the pottery wheel and invites you to experience Wheelfulness. Through the Wheelfulness approach, the wheel is not only used for shaping clay, but also for cultivating somatic mindfulness. The small-group setting, with no more than four participants, allows for plenty of individual support and creates a calm atmosphere.
In this experiential session, Bettina will guide you to connect with your center and maintain a sense of inner stillness as you shape the clay on the spinning wheel. With step-by-step guidance, you will experience the ‘wheelful’ way of centering clay and forming a small bowl or plate on the pottery wheel. Towards the end of the session, you will also have the opportunity to add your choice of colours to decorate your piece.
Glazing and kiln-firing are included in your booking fee, and your finished pieces will be ready for collection in three weeks after the class.

I’m a clay therapist offering somatic therapy and mindfulness-based pottery classes in a calm and welcoming studio.
Before finding my way to clay, I spent several years in academia, completing a PhD in psychology and teaching at university. I began working with clay as a hobby, and over time, what started as a personal mindfulness practice evolved into a professional calling, leading me to train as a Clay Field® therapist.
As well as open classes, I offer private sessions that can be tailored to your needs—whether you're looking for therapeutic support or simply a creative experience to share with family or friends.
