Please note: Nestled within the bustling beehives, a fascinating process takes place. Delicately extracted, only the surplus honey is gently collected. These industrious European honeybees possess a remarkable talent for creating a lot of honey that surpasses their own needs. Originating in the majestic European Alps, their innate ability to accumulate ample honey with remarkable speed evolved to withstand the harsh and prolonged winters in that area. Nevertheless, upon their arrival in Australia, these tireless honeybees continue their extraordinary work, producing an abundance of honey that far surpasses the demands of our brief winters. A surplus of this liquid gold gracefully emerges, awaiting its purpose in the hands of those who appreciate its rich, exquisite flavours.

  • 5/5 from Malcolm Morgan, attended Jun 2025: I was one of three people to attended the Beehive Honey Extraction Experience on Sunday 1st June. The Gus covered all aspects of what the bees do from collecting the nectar to to passing it onto the younger bees (House Bees) inside the hive who store the nectar into hexagonal shaped bees wax honey cells. They then turn the nectar into honey by drying it out using their wings. They then put a lid over the honey cell using fresh bees wax. The teacher the took us outside and opened the two hives to show us how the bees go about their work. Owing the colder weather of winter there was not enough honey in the hive cells to experience the extraction process. However the teacher explained how this process is done. Great experience, would highly recommend to everyone but suggest visiting this experience during the warmer months. M.M Greystanes

We, at the Bee Protection Society want to do what we can to protect the bees, particularly the bees in the urban environment. Bees in large cities have a lot going for them, but only as long as they are protected within a proper hive and under the care of someone that looks after them.
We want to educate people about these fascinating creatures and encourage them to install a beehive in their backyard. It is a very rewarding experience to know that you are helping bees survive and also to get honey and wax in return.
With over 30 years experience in beekeeping, we are fully qualified to help our community to achieve the best sustainable results while caring for bees.
