Watercolour Painting and Ink Art Workshop

1.5 hours Location Lane Cove Class size 1 to 20 (public classes), 3 to 30   $90 (Afterpay available)

Explore using inks and watercolours to create illustrations for your journals and standalone art pieces. Referencing the beautiful works of Charlie Mackesy, this is a gentle class where accidental blobs and ink spills add to the artworks.

Using ink and watercolour, you'll create two to three art pieces, and if you are brave enough, freehand your own imaginative illustration piece. Please leave your expectation of perfection at the door; these workshops were created for you to let go, play, be curious, all while stepping into your creativity.

  • 5/5 from Amanda Barnier, attended Jan 2026: My daughter, her friend and I loved this watercolour and ink class with Serena. Serena started by showing us inspiration for our goals from her work, shared fundamental tips re travel supplies, colour mixing and relaxing! With lots of supplies laid out, we each had the chance to work on one or two small pieces and Serena gave lots of advice as we progressed. I learned helpful things about complementary colours for shadows, perspective, and capturing figures. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable class in a lovely local cafe with Serena offering the perfect amount of support and flexibility. Excellent for beginners or more experienced adults and teens. Will definitely be looking for more classes with Serena! Thank you!
  • 5/5 from Senali Pandit, attended Mar 2025: We had a beautiful class outdoors and Serena was so great at bringing out our creative sides and keeping us in the moment!

We were provided with a warm welcome and a phenomenal working space, lovely tea and biscuits, beautiful water colour paints, inks, and papers with different textures. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a fun group activity or for anyone looking to build on their skills in a safe space and release their inner artist!!

Hello, my name is Serena. I’m an illustrator, artist, teacher, speaker and all-round creative, and I’m excited to share my creative and wellness workshops with you!
As a fulltime picture book illustrator and graphic novel artist, my ultimate joy is teaching adults that anything is possible if you are open to heart felt exploration and play.
In my twenties I worked as an artist for Walt Disney Studios where I gained most of my illustration skills and scribbled my way onto the credits of some highly recognised sequels such as The Lion King II, Jungle Book II and The Little Mermaid II.
My love of illustration and teaching has moved my focus from kids classes to running workshops for adults teaching visual journaling and creative drawing. Inspired by the increasing number of adults sharing their limiting belief around drawing, I wanted to bring in ways to share my years of drawing combined with my wellness workshops.
I find joy in meeting new people, guiding others in creating art that reflects their mood, ignites their imagination and captures their day. I am always open to hosting events and engaging in exciting collaborations with businesses.
