Stained and Leaded Glass Workshop

Discover the art of stained and leaded glass in Sydney!

6 hours Class size 1 to 3 guests

$300 - $440 ($300 for Small panel or mirror; $360 for Medium panel or mirror; $440 for Large panel or mirror) (Afterpay available)

Learn the almost forgotten art of stained and leaded glass in a private or public setting with Alex, owner of Woffel Glass in Sydney!
Alex loves passing on knowledge in the hopes of inspiring other people to get motivated to create, have fun and learn a new skill as well as contribute to a not so thriving art form. He personally thinks it is really important to breathe life into the art of stained and leaded glass as well as hopefully secure the longevity of it.
The workshop will begin with choosing one of the designs, then the next step (possibly the most difficult, choosing your glass). Alex will then go through all the materials and tools needed to manufacture a piece as well as a couple of safety methods.
Then the class will continue by first cutting your glass to fit your designs, grinding, leading, and then finally soldering and polishing your piece before taking it home with you.
Alex will also give you the option to hang a chain on your finished product so you can easily hang it on your wall or over your window.

Please note: Public dates for this class require at least 2 guests to run. In the unlikely event that we don't reach this number, we may cancel the session; if that happens, we'll inform you and let you choose between a refund or reschedule, so please watch your email/SMS one day prior to the class.

Recent reviews of Stained and Leaded Glass Workshop

  • 5/5 from Jay Best, attended Sep 2025: Alex was super friendly, and the class size small enough that it felt really attentive. There was a lot to learn, but he was a wealth of knowledge and had lots of patience to show us the proper techniques. The studio was tidy, and his beautiful cats would wander in occasionally to make sure you were progressing along nicely (perhaps ask before attendance if you have allergies). It was a really awesome way to spend a Sunday and I came out with a beginner piece I’m really proud of - I immediately informed my partner I will be going again.

Hello, my name is Alex. I am a Sydney based stained and leaded glass artist situated in Surry Hills. I have a business called Woffel Glass mainly focusing on residential and commercial leaded glass installations BUT I also love to teach.
It's really important to me to pass on a not so thriving art form to people who are not only interested in the trade as a profession but also just keen enthusiasts looking to give it a shot and contribute a little to the trade.
