Kokedama Workshop

Sydney's original kokedama class — eco-friendly, expert-led, boutique Redfern studio

1 hour Class size 8 to 20 guests       $100 (PayPal Pay in 4 available)

Sydney's original kokedama workshop — taught since 2017, including at the Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney.
At Merchant & Green, we've been teaching the ancient Japanese art of kokedama for nearly a decade. Guided by our expert florists in our boutique Redfern studio, you'll learn to transform a living plant into a beautiful hanging moss ball using eco-friendly coco coir — a sustainable alternative to traditional moss that's kinder to the environment and better for your plant.
In one focused hour, you'll master soil preparation, wrapping and binding technique, and leave with a handcrafted kokedama made from a carefully selected seasonal indoor plant — ready to hang or display in your home.
What makes our class different:
— Taught since 2017, including at the Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney
— Eco-friendly materials — we use coco coir and sustainable coconut husk, not harvested moss
— Expert florist guidance from Christopher Saban, with 9 years of kokedama instruction
— Boutique Redfern studio — an intimate, plant-filled space unlike any craft workshop
— Small class sizes (max 8) for personalised attention
— All materials included — premium seasonal indoor plant, coco coir, twine, care card
Your kokedama isn't just a plant — it's a piece of Japanese botanical art, made by your own hands.
What you'll get
One handcrafted kokedama using a seasonal indoor plant, to hang or display at home. Plant care card included.
