Of course. I’d make the distinction between your real name and collage alias feel natural rather than overly formal:
Writing
I’m Rocio, a Melbourne based collage artist working under the name Sylvia Dix, and the founder of Pegados Collage Studio.
I got into collage almost by accident. In 2016, I was living in New Zealand, with no kids yet, lots of time, and a quiet kind of restlessness. Something pulled me towards paper and scissors, so I started making. I haven’t really stopped since.
By day, I’m a product designer with over ten years of experience building digital products. That background naturally shapes the way I approach collage: composition, colour, balance, and how different elements speak to each other on the page. It’s the same design instinct, just slower, more tactile, and much more satisfying.
Teaching came naturally. I love watching someone who thinks they’re “not creative” make something they’re genuinely proud of. That moment is a big part of why I do what I do.
At Pegados, I run hands on collage workshops where we work with vintage papers, found ephemera, and whatever the table gives us. No experience is needed. Just curiosity, an open mind, and a willingness to play.
