On the search for hands-on Sydney experiences? Discover how to work with clay on the wheel at this introductory wheel throwing class.

This informative and fun class will teach you everything you need to know about how to prepare clay, centre your ball of clay and throw different shapes using a wheel.

Our pottery classes are usually either one on one or in small groups of 2 people so you can learn more throwing techniques in detail and receive guidance and advice throughout the session.

This is just a taster wheel class and it's for an experience only. It's also suitable for people without any throwing experience.

If you wish to fire your work in the end, it's $20 per ceramic pot.

What to bring
  • Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes and wear something you don't mind getting clay on or bring an apron.
  • Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, we encourage everyone to bring their own hand towels and aprons or t-shirt.
  • Please ensure your nails are trimmed short and long hair should be either tied back or pulled away from the face.

Suitable for adults, and kids (minimum 10 years old).

Adult accompaniment is not required.

Shinhee G. Ma is an Australian, freelance ceramic artist based in Sydney. She is specialised in making contemporary sculptural wares that are playful and functional for everyday use.

Shinhee’s passion for ceramics began when she was enrolled in ceramic course at TAFE. She has completed a B.A (Hons) degree in ceramics at Sydney College of the Arts (University of Sydney) in 1999 and studied Master of Design at College of Fine Arts (UNSW COFA) in 2002. Shinhee has been working as a pewter cutlery/ giftware designer for five years after graduating university and has been teaching art and craft to children for many years.
