  • 5/5 from Kerrie Duff, attended Sep 2025: Great communication with teacher who advised when the kit was posted so we knew to look out for it. She was approachable and responded to questions promptly to trouble shoot when we didn't get to use the kit immediately as we had intended upon it's arrival. The starter was carefully wrapped and came in a stirdy box complete with apron and all the tools needed to make the sough dough including the helpful nifty scraper and big bowl for mixing it and letting it rise, plus an apron and shaker. Notes are thorough and presented in a smart folder with clear sleeves. The instructions and recipes include ways to use the 'waste', which isn't really waste- it is just the bit not needed for the sough dough bread but it can be used for other recipes so we're looking forward to trying most of these too-plus now gone down the rabbit hoel of what else we can make with it and how we can modify the sour dough and also present it in a range of ways- eg plaited. We've made a loaf twice so far and getting better at the process after a few initial hitches when we looked at a few youtube clips to get more confident before we decided to email the teacher/provider -who clarified we were on the right track. It's easy to keep the starter mix in the fridge to 'rest' when we're not ready to make more. We haven't tried drying it out yet as she indicated this could yield even better bread next cook up, but we do plan to do this when we go away for an extended time, down the track. We enjoy checking on the 'baby' when feeding it on the bench ready to make more. A great gift for couples, families or singles.

She established Boatshed Cheese in 2012 specialising in small-batch cheese using traditional cheese making methods, using goat, cow and buffalo milk, Tamara’s attention to detail has seen her win dozens of awards both in Australia and overseas for her delicious, hand made cheese.
BoatShed Cheese is also in demand across Melbourne’s fine dining and gourmet food lovers scene with weekly deliveries throughout metropolitan Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula. Retail customers are also well catered for with weekly deliveries to Bills Farm at Queen Vic market and many other fine food sellers across Melbourne’s suburbs, as well as appearances at weekly farmers markets.
After recently selling her commercial cheesemaking business, Tamara now focusses on her Cheese making classes and also offers a Sourdough Masterclass which includes a range of breads and pastry.
