Textile Art: DIY Slow Stitch Quilt

Together, we will cut, sew, back, and bind a single quilt unit that can be attached to others to create a quilt of whatever size you would like. More importantly, you will be introduced to the gentle art of stitching and experience the relaxation and satisfaction of making something beautiful completely by hand. Art and craft are increasingly being recognised as important sources of well-being in today's stressful world. Give yourself the gift of time to stitch with others and learn a new skill that you can integrate into your life. You can relax in the comfort of your own home with a cuppa or a glass of wine and enjoy making your first quilt block in a no pressure environment. There will be plenty of breaks and time for chatting as we create. This class is designed with beginners in mind and focuses on the enjoyment of the process rather than on perfect traditional quilt-making results. At the end of the class, you will have one completed unit that you could use as a mug rug or a vase mat. But you will also have all the skills and tools necessary to continue at home, gently hand-making more units to create a complete quilt.I will also send you a link to a private Facebook group for my students that you can join after the class where you can share your work, ask questions, and get ongoing inspiration and encouragement. The kit contains a sewing kit with a needle, needle threader, clips, and safety pins. It also contains a cutting template, gel pen, and enough fabric and thread to complete a minimum of three quilt units approximately 15 cm in diameter. We will only complete one in class.
