Acrylic Painting Workshop: Blooming Sakura in Van Gogh Style

3 hours Location Darlinghurst Class size 8 to 10 guests   $79

Join us for a vibrant and hands-on acrylic painting workshop where you’ll explore the expressive world of Vincent van Gogh and create your own Sakura Cherry Blossom masterpiece. Guided by a professional artist, you’ll follow step-by-step demonstrations inspired by Van Gogh’s bold brushwork and signature impasto technique. Using quality art materials, including Liquitex Basics Acrylics, Gloss Heavy Gel Medium, and hog bristle brushes, you’ll learn how to mix, layer, and apply thick, textured strokes to bring your painting to life.
Throughout the session, your instructor will demonstrate how to recreate the rich, sculptural textures that Van Gogh is known for, using modern acrylic mediums like gloss gels and extenders. You’ll gain confidence in creating dynamic surfaces, mixing expressive colours, and capturing emotion through texture and movement.
This Van Gogh Acrylic Painting Workshop is designed for all skill levels, whether you're new to acrylics or looking to deepen your painting practice. Each participant will complete a detailed Sakura Cherry Blossom composition, blending Van Gogh’s expressive style with the symbolic beauty of the cherry blossom, representing renewal, innocence, and new beginnings.
No experience is necessary, and all materials are provided. Whether you’re an aspiring artist or simply looking for a fun and creative experience, this workshop offers a supportive environment to learn new techniques, develop your style, and leave with a finished artwork to be proud of.

  • 5/5 from Lenore Smith, attended Jan 2026: Loved this class. Great tutor with small group. I've done two of these classes now and look forward to do others. Very inspiring.
  • 4/5 from Doree Adams, attended Jan 2026: For me it was a reset having not painted for many years I learned that you don’t have to set your background first but go back after scene completed (not sure I would ever do this especially in such a fiddly, time consuming work as I can see no benefit except for testing patience) Teacher Zoe very friendly, helpful and encouraging. Realised later we could have selected preferred brushes instead of those allotted to us. I enjoyed the relaxed environment and people Have signed up for 2nd one next week Will definitely take a cushion for 3 hours sitting on hard metal seat Ouch All in all a pleasant 3 hours, perhaps more geared to people just Starting their painting journey as you do end up with a finished work
