Learn calligraphy and appreciate this beautiful art in a modern pointed pen calligraphy class.

This class is suitable for beginners, as you will learn how to write with a pointed nib and ink, the script style, letter construction and characteristics, flourishing, numerals, and colour, layout and design skills.

The class will begin with an introduction to the rich history of calligraphy and the contemporary style of the course (this workshop focuses on modern pointed pen). You will then work with dip pen and ink learning this modern script style of lettering before adding your own flair.

At the end of the class, you will be able to apply letters and numerals of the modern pointed pen, spatial awareness, colour and design techniques and layout skills to your own work.

We have a series of Sydney workshops which will introduce you to each of the contemporary styles:

  • Medieval Gothic
  • Copperplate Hand
  • Uncial Hand
  • Italic Script
  • Foundational Hand
  • Medieval Batarde French Gothic

After completing the course you are eligible for a 10% discount when you provide proof of enrolment at Tillys Art Supplies (Rozelle), Newtown Art Supplies and Eckersley’s Art Supplies (Sydney).
