Educator Open Day – Program Overview
10am | Arrival and sign-in
Guests arrive at the Reverse Garbage Education Hub to sign in, collect a name tag, and settle in.
10:30am | Guided tour of Reverse Garbage and reuse materials
Join CEO Kirsten Junor for a guided tour of the Reverse Garbage warehouse and our selection of unique education materials that you can't find anywhere else. Educators will be introduced to the wide range of industrial and reuse materials available for learning, play, and creative exploration, with a focus on how these resources can be used in early learning and classroom settings. There will be time to ask questions and explore materials up close.
11am | Information session with the Reverse Garbage Education Programs Developer Yasmin Andrews
Explore programs, professional development, history, and impact. This short information session provides an overview of Reverse Garbage’s education programs for early learning, including incursions, excursions, and ongoing partnerships. We’ll also share details about our professional development offerings for educators, our 50-year history, and the environmental and community impact of our work. This session is ideal for educators looking to embed sustainability, creative reuse, and hands-on learning into their practice.
11:45am | Creator Club session in the warehouse
Educators are invited to take part in a Creator Club-style session in the warehouse, exploring materials through open-ended play and making. This hands-on experience is designed specifically for early learners, giving educators practical ideas and inspiration they can take back to their setting. Our team will be on hand to support, demonstrate, and answer questions.
Special offer for the day
To support educators to get started straight away, attendees can access a special fill-a-bag offer on the day. Choose from Pick and Mix materials, Loose Parts, and from our fill-a-bag barrels, and fill a medium-sized printed sack for just $15. This is a great opportunity to build a starter collection of creative reuse materials for your learning environment.
This event is designed to support your practice through the use of creative reuse materials and sustainability education. By exploring Reverse Garbage reuse resources, educators will gain practical strategies for using affordable, open-ended, and unique materials to support creativity, inquiry, and environmental understanding in their own learning environments. To our community of educators - thank you for all you do! This event is free; however, places are limited. Book in soon to avoid disappointment.
