Fun Gardening classes in Melbourne
Gardening classes in Melbourne are a fantastic way to reinvigorate not just your own garden plants, but also yourself! Gardening has so many health benefits and can substantially improve your quality of life, but it doesn’t always come naturally. Whether it’s learning how to make a garden bed, figuring out how to grow bigger and healthier plants, or you want to learn how to help a plant survive indoors, our Melbourne workshops are a surefire way to get your green thumb flourishing!
People have been keeping and maintaining plants and gardens since the very first civilisations. Previously a luxury only afforded to the wealthy and affluent, maintaining a garden is now an activity afforded to everyone and a wonderful way to practice sustainability and mindfulness. Learning how to garden is a great place to start if you’re looking at lowering your carbon footprint and your budget. Discovering how to grow herbs and veggies not only lowers your grocery bills, but your access to freshly grown produce is as rewarding as it is delicious!
ClassBento’s range of gardening classes in Melbourne are a perfect way to get back in touch with nature and learn what it takes to maintain green space in your own home. With modern urban living, space can be a rare commodity and enjoying the benefits of an extensive garden can be non-existent. Our horticulture courses teach you methods of maintaining gardens and plants of all shapes and sizes both in and outside of the home.
Whether you’re chasing tips and tricks on how to plant succulents in the kitchen or hoping to learn important techniques for fertile soil to produce lush, gorgeous flowerbeds, our gardening classes in Melbourne suit all ranges of gardening experience. From absolute beginners to natural naturists, there are garden workshops and planting classes perfect for keeping your passion and plants alive and healthy.
Our horticultural workshop instructors are certified green thumbs and know what it takes to revive your struggling plants, and reinvigorate your passion for gardening! With so much to cover, our instructors have the comprehensive knowledge required to get a garden thriving! You’ll learn how to utilise basic plant biology to maintain healthy plants, identify appropriate planting options for small spaces, and how to plan soil rotation and composting information. Some of our gardening classes even include a small plant to take home with you! These gardening classes are perfect for small groups and individuals looking at amplifying their gardening knowledge, or a fun couples event!
Our gardening classes in Melbourne offer both private and public workshops, so always ensure that you contact the class instructor for details on classes that would work best for you and your group. Many of our teachers also offer additional extras and tailored packages, so it never hurts to contact them ahead of time or any special requirements.
Health Benefits of Gardening
Gardening has an array of health benefits, no matter how big or small your garden is. Growing and maintaining a green space is a wonderful way to build confidence and improve happiness. This goes deeper than just the effects of completing the task, however. M. Vaccae is a healthy bacteria that live in the soil and is regularly inhaled when digging through the garden or walking through dense bushland. Believe it or not, inhaling M. Vaccae has been linked with feelings of euphoria and increased positivity.
Botanists believe this is linked to “biophilia”, which is a human’s instinctual need to be surrounded by nature. A lack of greenery in both your living space and office has been found to increase stress and depressive episodes by 40 per cent, so keeping and maintaining a small garden works wonders for your mental health. Getting into the garden has also been found to lower cortisol production, which is the hormone related to stress. Plants also help purify the air not just of carbon dioxide, but also of harsh chemicals.
Custom classes
Want to learn or experience something specific? You can easily contact our teachers and arrange a custom workshop at your preferred time and to suit your skill level.
