What you'll do
Familiarise yourself with your sewing machine at this hands-on Redfern workshop for beginners and begin your DIY textiles journey!
In this private class, you will learn how to set up your sewing machine, wind the bobbin and thread the machine. Your teacher will guide you through every step. Once you have had a practice run, you will put your skills to use by making a simple cushion cover with a zip.
You will learn how to use your machine, wind the bobbin, thread the machine and sew straight lines. Your teacher will guide you through how to set up your machine properly and get into good habits from the beginning. You will learn how to install a zip, and have a taster session on our overlocker.
At the end of this interactive class, you will have a brand new zipped cushion cover and will be able to keep busy with your sewing machine at home making your own DIY projects!

Our story began in 2018 in a small Redfern studio. With only one desk and one sewing machine, our first class was published and we haven't looked back. Our passion for the arts coupled with bringing people together, brought our vision of launching a creative hub to life.
In our modern world, everything moves quickly, we have adapted to a fast-paced environment and sometimes it can be hard to slow ourselves down. Sydney Creative is a place for people to relax, regroup and find a creative outlet that will hopefully aid in bringing people a sense of achievement, fulfilment and joy.
Today, our classes run from our shop at 126 Regent St, Redfern. Our Classes bring people together, often in a circle around a table, whether it's for a sewing class, jewellery making or crafting, there's something special about being creative in a group together.
