Arts and crafts for kids that are prime party material
“Pin the tail on the donkey” is fine and all, but it may be time to update your kids activities if that’s your go-to. As Bob Dylan once said, “the times they-are-a-changing” and you have to change with them. Kids may not be a fan of Bob Dylan, but they will be a fan of kids party ideas that set the tone and pace of the party, rather than try to interrupt it.
Chasing kids birthday party ideas for younger kids? Our Slime Making Workshop is one of our biggest hitters, and one of the best crafts for kids that like to get messy. Organised by Nicola Preasted at Handmaker’s Factory, this workshop can come directly to you, so you can have your party participants whipping up a slime storm in your backyard! Kids activities for a small group
Sometimes kids activities can feel like your over-catering. Just like adults, some children prefer to socialise in much smaller groups, and ClassBento has workshops for them too. Jumping Creek Designs in Mordialloc (one of our favourite artisans, but don’t tell anyone) run some of the best craft classes for kids in the country.
Children love pottery. It’s a fantastic creative outlet, inspires the imagination, and allows for kids to also get a bit messy. Hand building clay is also one of the best arts and crafts for kids if you want to boost their brainpower! Obviously, that’s not the goal when you’re hunting down indoor activities for kids parties, but it is an added bonus. Combining motor skills with problem solving, pottery is actually a highly creative way for young brains to produce white matter, which in turn opens up neural pathways. In the long term, this can help the brain fight off degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, but in the short term, it helps your child build a greater understanding of both themselves their creative potential and ability.
