Our teacher was very attentive and was helpful whenever we needed some assistance. There were several makers at the studio, doing their own thing so the ambiance was warm and inviting.

Learning wheel throwing is a lot harder than it looks but Sofia was able to guide us so we each ended up with multiple pieces to choose from at the end of the class. Highly recommend!!

She made the pottery wheel look easy of course, but gave some helpful tips and saved my clay creations from complete collapse. I liked that we could create as many objects as we wanted in the time allocation and pick two of our favourites. The pacing was very good and we felt quite relaxed.

The teacher was incredibly attentive, providing one-on-one guidance and being very kind, especially when things didn’t go as planned. She was always ready with alternative solutions and tips to help us improve. The best part was that we had the freedom to make as many pieces as we wanted within the two-hour session, so it felt like we really had time to explore and experiment with the medium. Overall, it was a wonderful and creative experience, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to try pottery.

The class size was also small, which meant we had lots of one on one help. The workshop is a great way to destress and completely focus on creating something. We can’t wait to see our finished pieces! Highly recommended.

Shannon was a great teacher; patient and knowledgeable and happy to have a chat at the end. The class was good value for money, especially since it was just myself, my friend, and Shannon. So we got a lot of her time compared to what you might get with some larger classes. Very keen to pick up the pieces we made in a couple weeks, and potentially come again in the future to scratch the itch again.

From start to finish, everything about this place exceeded my expectations. First and foremost, Shannon Lewis, our instructor, was an absolute gem. As a complete novice to pottery, I was a bit apprehensive about using the wheel, but Shannon's calm demeanor and patient guidance instantly put me at ease. She took the time to walk me through each step of the process, from preparing the clay to shaping and molding it on the wheel. Her expertise and passion for pottery were evident throughout the class, and I left feeling confident and inspired. The studio itself was also impressive. It was spacious, well-lit, and equipped with top-of-the-line tools and equipment. Everything was clean and organized, creating a conducive environment for creativity and learning. Additionally, the atmosphere was incredibly welcoming, thanks in no small part to the friendly staff who were always on hand to offer assistance and encouragement. One thing that stood out to me was the attention to detail that Clay Cartel put into every aspect of the experience. From the quality of the materials to the layout of the studio, it was clear that they take pride in providing their customers with the best possible experience. Overall, I cannot recommend Clay Cartel enough to anyone interested in trying pottery. Whether you're a complete beginner like myself or a seasoned pro, there's something for everyone here. Shannon Lewis is an amazing instructor who will guide you every step of the way, and the studio provides the perfect environment to unleash your creativity. Trust me, you won't be disappointed! I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

I had never used the potter's wheel before and Shannon guided me through the process. There was a perfect balance of instruction and freedom to make mistakes. I would highly recommend this class and the studio. The studio was very easy to get to with free parking close by at Marrickville Metro. I will definitely be back for another class.

There was some nice relaxing music playing while others were working nearby in the studio. Our teacher, Shannon, explained the theory and processes clearly and was very patient and kind. I struggled at first with pulling but Shannon was very attentive and was able to help me understand what I was doing wrong. I appreciate her guidance and encouragement. I definitely had a lot of fun and look forward to seeing the completed pieces!
