Learn Piano Online with DorisHello, my dear students!I'm Doris, and I'd love to welcome you into the world of piano, whether you're six or sixty, a complete beginner or returning after years away.I started playing piano at age six myself, and music has been my lifelong companion through every season of life. Now, as a Sydney Conservatorium of Music graduate and previous staff, I bring both professional expertise and genuine warmth to every lesson. What Makes Learning with Me Different? You're Not Just a NumberI've taught students from age 6 to 60 across Chinese and Western music traditions. Every lesson is tailored to your goals, personality, and learning style, because I believe music should bring you joy and power, not stress.Real Results, Real ConfidenceMy students consistently achieve excellent AMEB results and build genuine performance confidence. My background in both music and commerce means I create structured, achievable plans that actually work, while keeping the creativity and fun alive.More Than TechniqueYes, you'll master proper technique. But you'll also learn to express emotion, tell stories through music, and discover confidence you didn't know you had. Music isn't just about hitting the right keys, it's about finding your voice.Bilingual & Culturally FluentI'm fluent in both English and Mandarin, with deep insight into both Chinese and Western teaching approaches. I understand different learning traditions and adapt to what works best for you.A Little About My JourneyBefore turning eleven, I earned my Grade 10 Piano Certificate and highest-level Musicianship Certificate from the Chinese Musicians Association. I've performed at prestigious venues like Verbrugghen Hall and was selected as the sole piano representative for the Australian Institute of Music's annual showcase. But here's what truly shaped my teaching: working at Sydney Conservatorium of Music with 400+ students and tutors across piano, strings, voice, theory, and more taught me exactly what students need to thrive and what families are really looking for in music education. I've seen every challenge, every breakthrough, learning style, and I bring all of that understanding into my lessons with you.I also volunteer at aged care homes, sharing music as healing and human connection. These experiences taught me that music's greatest gift isn't perfection, it's the way it transforms us.What You'll LearnAMEB exam preparation (all levels)Music theory & aural trainingPerformance confidence & stage presenceProper technique that prevents bad habitsMusical expression that brings pieces to lifeA lifelong love of musicPerfect For:Absolute beginners taking their first steps (but 6yrs+)Kids & teens building strong foundationsAdults learning for joy or rediscovering a childhood dreamAdvanced students refining their artistryAnyone who's ever thought, "I wish I could play piano"My Promise to YouI believe music is a lifelong source of strength, creativity, and connection. In my classes, there's encouragement, structure, and genuine care. Mistakes are how we learn. Questions are always welcome. Your unique musical journey is celebrated.I'm also a nationally certified Senior Family Education Instructor in China, so I understand not just pedagogy, but the family dynamics and individual needs that make each student's path special.Ready to begin? Let's make music together. Your piano story starts here.
