Ever wanted to start a podcast but didn’t know where to begin—or felt overwhelmed by the tech? This interactive 8-week online course is designed to guide you step-by-step from a simple idea to a finished, published podcast episode.
This is not a lecture-based course. Every session includes live practice, guided exercises, and real-time feedback, so you actively build your podcast during class time—not just learn about it.
By the end of the course, you’ll have the skills, confidence, and tools to continue podcasting independently.
Over eight weekly sessions (1.5 hours each), you will:
  • Develop a clear podcast idea and target audience
  • Plan and structure engaging podcast episodes
  • Learn how to choose and set up recording equipment (no expensive gear required)
  • Practise voice delivery, interviewing, and storytelling
  • Record your podcast audio with confidence
  • Edit and polish your episode using free software
  • Create cover art, show notes, and branding
  • Publish your podcast and build a simple promotion plan
How the course works:
Each session includes:
  • Short, focused teaching segments
  • Guided, hands-on practice during class
  • Breakout activities and group feedback
  • Clear, achievable homework to build on what you’ve started live
You’ll never be asked to “figure it out alone”; all core skills are practised together during class.
Weekly outline:
  • Week 1: Podcast ideas, formats, and audience
  • Week 2: Episode planning, structure, and scripting
  • Week 3: Equipment, setup, and tech confidence (sound checks included)
  • Week 4: Voice, presence, and recording practice
  • Week 5: Interviewing or solo storytelling + long-form recording
  • Week 6: Editing fundamentals and audio polishing
  • Week 7: Sound design, branding, and cover art
  • Week 8: Publishing, promotion, and next steps
What you’ll need:
  • A laptop or smartphone
  • Headphones (wired preferred)
  • A quiet space at home
Optional equipment (such as a USB microphone) will be discussed and tested together during the course—there is no requirement to purchase equipment before starting.
Who this course is for:
  • Beginners with no podcasting experience
  • Creatives, storytellers, and community voices
  • Small business owners and educators
  • Anyone curious about podcasting and digital storytelling
No technical or audio experience is required.
What you’ll leave with:
  • A completed podcast episode (or pilot)
  • Practical podcasting skills you can reuse
  • Confidence using recording and editing tools
  • A clear plan to keep publishing beyond the course
This course is supportive, practical, and designed to meet you where you are—whether you’re exploring podcasting for the first time or finally ready to bring an idea to life.
A few things to note:
  • We cannot provide transfers to other course dates if you have booked in and can't make it. The course does not run regularly and we cannot guarantee there will be multiple courses a year.
  • If you cannot attend a session, please let us know in advance and before the start of the class. We will record the session and send you a link so you can catch up. This applies to single sessions missed. The whole course will not be provided as a recorded course.

About me!
I commenced my dance journey at the tender age of 5, eventually earning a scholarship to The Royal Ballet London) and transitioning to full-time training by age 11. Alongside my rigorous training, I performed with The Royal Ballet Company and various European dance companies, also delving into choreography and pioneering roles in new productions.
In the early 2000s, I embarked on curating and facilitating creative workshops for community organizations, striving to democratize the arts and extend its reach to underprivileged communities. This endeavor involved collaboration with company directors, educators, and health professionals to craft inclusive and educational arts programs.
Augmenting my dance background, I pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Creative Writing, nurturing her passion for literature, writing, and poetry. Concurrently, she assumed the role of Assistant Manager at a West End Theatre, overseeing daily operations and Front of House management. My involvement in community radio sparked an interest in sound engineering, leading her to earn a diploma and subsequently work in the live music industry.
Upon relocating to Melbourne in 2009, I leveraged my extensive experience and network in the arts to establish Rebel Stepz. This multicultural arts organization comprises diverse talents spanning theater technicians, set and costume designers, dancers, choreographers, musicians, writers, and artists. Together with Rebel Stepz, I curate events, workshops, programs, and production packages, catering to various projects all over the world.
I persist in my multifaceted roles as a choreographer, facilitator, event manager, producer and mentor. Continuously evolving, I am presently immersed in the study of sports psychology, aiming to apply my insights to support artists and performers in their endeavors.
