Contract bridge, or just 'bridge', is one of the world's most intriguing and popular card games.
Bridge is my passion. It’s addictive, always challenging and interesting. It’s like a ‘lucky packet’ – “what will the next hand bring?”
During the session, you will be guided into this card game that has no equal. Anyone can learn, no matter your age or background. I have taught people of various ages, 80 year olds and even my grandson when he was 7.
Step by step you will be shown the basic principles that underpin the game; tricks and trumps – and what that means.
It will be a ‘hands on’ session with lots of playing and minimal 'lecturing'; I'll guide you along the way with short explanations.
By the end of the session, you will have played a number of ‘hands’ or games, so you will have a good idea of how bridge works. The lessons usually run with a group of four people but can also be 1, 2, or 3.
The pleasure I get when teaching bridge is watching students ‘get it’, while having fun at the same time. It is such a thrill to pass on my enthusiasm to new players.
This class is available on Request for groups of 3+.
Don't have a group of 3+ students? If you're happy to pay a higher price per person (total of $180 for the class), you can just Request to book this class for 3 students (and attend with fewer guests).

A former school teacher, and bridge teacher for the past 10 years, my professional background and experience of teaching children, has made it easy for me to understand the ‘difficulties’ facing students when learning new skills.
Since 2009, I taught beginner bridge and supervising sessions at a Recreational Centre in Johannesburg to a range of students:
· beginners with no clue about the game;
· others who knew ‘something’;
· those wanting to improve and develop their confidence;
· some with previous knowledge of the game;
· merely wanting to play in a friendly and informal atmosphere
The sessions were extremely popular and enjoyed by my devoted students and participants, especially those who want to learn skills in a non-competitive environment.
We'll keep you posted!
