Perfect for meat lovers and anyone who has ever struggled to cook the perfect steak, this hands-on masterclass will teach you how to cut and cook meat the professional way.

During this class, which is perfect for beginners and food enthusiasts alike, our expert chef will take you through the different types of cuts to get restaurant-quality results.

Learn the best cooking methods for each cut, about the sous vide techniques for consistent results and how to cook a stuffed chicken breast. The chef will prepare a whole sirloin and then you’ll have the chance to cook your own NY steak.

You’ll even have the chance to prepare twice-cooked lamb shoulder (braised and seared), char-grilled skirt steak and make accompaniments including chimichurri, basil pesto and smoked black garlic butter to elevate your dishes.

We will finish this cooking journey savouring a delicious meal with a complimentary glass of wine. At the end of this class, you’ll never need to Google how to cook sirloin steak again.


A minimum of eight participants is required to proceed with this class. Should this class not reach minimum numbers, we will notify you  no later than four days prior to the scheduled date. Guests will be welcome to reschedule for another date or obtain a refund if preferred.

Please note: Sydney Cooking School (SCS) reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a class for reasons concerning SCS. If a class has been cancelled due to low attendance, sickness or any other matter regarding SCS, all students will be notified within 48 hours of the class commencement date, and the option to reschedule to another date, or full refunds provided.

We have a variety of themed menus and packages available, and our formats are suitable to anyone, from the absolute beginner to the more passionate cook. As well as our regularly scheduled classes, we offer masterclasses in Pastry, Chicken & Duck and Pork & Cider, as well as Children’s School Holiday classes.

If you prefer to be out of the Kitchen join us in our fabulous BBQ area for one of our Popular BBQ classes – Things really heat up in these classes so ensure you dress comfortably.

Great class to learn the cuts of meat, what to buy, and how cook. Best part for me was learning how to bbq then slice a steak to perfection. Chef Paul was very informative and professional, he gave us many tips for cooking all proteins.

Paul was fantastic, friendly and super knowledgeable. He explained everything in very easy to understand language, and would answer all questions (and have a bit of a laugh too)! His personal anecdotes from his professional experiences made the content interesting and engaging, and the small setting was perfect for being involved. Learnt a lot about food handling and general safety. learn the best ways to cook different types of proteins. Due to COVID19 the classes are smaller to make things more controlled. everyone was able to wash their hands and sanitise frequently. Ate some lovely food at the end of the course from what we prepared. my only negative criticism is that there wasn't room for social distancing when being seated on the table.
