This course is designed for beginners or those with some performance experience who want to explore the exciting world of musical theatre. Learn the essential skills of singing, acting, and stage presence while developing confidence and expression. Guided by an experienced musical theatre professional, you’ll discover how to interpret lyrics, bring characters to life, and refine your vocal technique.
Through engaging exercises, group performances, and solo opportunities, you’ll gain the foundational skills needed to perform in musicals, auditions, and theatre productions. Whether you're aiming to step onto the stage or simply want to improve your public speaking and performance abilities, this course offers a fun, supportive, and interactive learning experience.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this course, you will have explored concepts and techniques such as:
Sing with improved vocal technique, including breath control, projection, and emotional expression.
Develop and portray compelling characters, using acting techniques to bring songs and scenes to life.
Enhance stage presence and confidence, performing with ease in front of an audience.
Prepare for auditions effectively, selecting appropriate songs and delivering polished performances.
Course content
During the course, participants will work with techniques and ideas such as:
Vocal Training & Technique – Breathing exercises, vocal warm-ups, projection, and pitch control for musical theatre singing.
Acting & Character Development – Interpreting lyrics, conveying emotion, and building believable characters.
Stage Presence & Movement – Using body language, facial expressions, and stage positioning to enhance performances.
Audition Preparation – Selecting songs, understanding audition etiquette, and delivering confident performances.
Group & Solo Performance Practice – Rehearsing and presenting musical numbers in a supportive environment.
Content may vary slightly depending on class pace, participant interests, and instructor approach.

Public transport is available from Victoria Road and Darling Street. We cannot guarantee that there will be parking available onsite due to the limited number of spaces. On weekdays, there are 11 onsite car spaces available for free parking. On weeknights and weekends, 15 onsite car spaces are available for free parking. There is also free council parking on the corner of Evans Street and Victoria Road. The surrounding street parking is limited as it is a residential area. Please be mindful of residents if parking on the surrounding streets.

Louise has appeared on major stages, performed professionally across a wide range of genres, and worked extensively as lead vocalist for corporate events and concerts. A career highlight was securing a TV residency as the lead singer for the house band on a television talkback show.
