2 x 4 hours Class size 1 to 10 guests       $300

Photography is both a creative and a technical art form, the two go hand in hand. Without the creative vision, the technical skills are useless, and without the practical skills, the vision is just a dream. Once you have mastered the basics of your camera functions, all beginner photographers need to be able to master the technical aspects of their camera to make their creative vision come to life.
This photography course provides the practical skills to shoot a scene, subject or object with technical confidence and apply those skills to all other areas of photography.
This course is split over two four hour sessions.
In session one, you will learn:
  • Bracketing and auto-exposure bracketing (AEB)
  • High dynamic range (HDR)
  • Experience the full spectrum of light and shadow as you capture vivid details from the brightest highlights to the deepest shadows.
  • Tonal range and dynamic range
  • Bathe your images in bright, airy brilliance, or delve into dramatic shadows and rich contrasts.
  • ND filters and long exposures
In session two, you will learn:
  • High key / low key exposures
  • Illuminate your creativity with special effects of backlighting, reflections and translucency.
  • Transmissions of light and special effects
  • Each hour of the day offers a unique palette of light to infuse your photos with atmosphere and mood.
  • Time of day and natural light diversity
  • Sculpt your images with depth and nuance using the diversity of natural light variations.
  • Variations of light
  • Correct and fine-tune colours to bring out the true vibrancy and colour accuracy in your images.
  • White balance problems and colour corrections
What you'll get
  • Assess the scene, lighting and conditions to control the final image outcome.
