Hi, I’m Galia — ceramic artist, nature lover, and founder of Pottery of Gaia. Clay runs deep in my blood. I was born in Bulgaria, where pottery traditions go back thousands of years. My work is rooted in the slow beauty of handmade objects and inspired by the textures, patterns, and rhythms of the natural world.
I truly fell in love with ceramics over 20 years ago, while living in the stunning Mediterranean Island of Mallorca, Spain, where citrus groves, bougainvillea blooms, sea-blue tiles, and terracotta warmth awaken the senses. I shared a home with a local master ceramicist who introduced me to the magic of the craft and the soulful rhythms and traditional techniques of Mallorcan clay work.
Since moving to Australia, I’ve deepened my ceramic practice through studies at UNSW and Northern Beaches TAFE, and today I continue to explore this beautiful, diverse medium — one that literally co-creates with the elements of Earth, Water, Air and Fire. Each piece is an alchemical dance between intention and surrender.
In my workshops, I guide you through a relaxing creative process that’s both grounding and joyful. I teach from three different spaces on the Northern Beaches. The main location is my cozy convenient studio in Collaroy opposite Alfresco Emporium, near Fishermans Beach. The second space is an amazing light-filled centre in the heart of Collaroy, with uninterrupted beach views and the sound of the ocean as your soundtrack. And finally, I also offer Alchemical open-air workshops from a stunning private nature sanctuary at my home studio.
Whether you’re a beginner or returning to clay, you’re warmly welcome. You'll leave with a handcrafted piece that’s completely your own... and maybe a little salty sunshine in your soul.
