Hi, I’m Lisa, a Certified Sommelier and proud NSW wine Advocate.My journey into the world of wine started in the most honest way: by falling in love with hospitality. Over the years, I’ve worked front-of-house in some of Sydney’s most respected venues, but it was always the wine list that fascinated me the most. I found myself asking questions, learning from sommeliers, and eventually diving deep into study to become one myself.What really lit the fire for me was tasting a beautiful, complex shiraz from Mudgee while visiting a small producer. It was a revelation: that world-class wines were being made right here in New South Wales – often just a few hours from Sydney. I knew I wanted to share this passion and help others discover what’s in our own backyard.At The Art Syndicate, I get to do exactly that. Each week, I host NSW wine tastings designed to be approachable, educational, and above all, fun. We explore six wines around a theme, chat about the regions, the winemakers, and the stories in every bottle. Something a lot of people don’t know? NSW has 16 distinct wine regions, from coastal cool-climate vineyards to high-altitude sites inland. Teaching wine is one of the great joys of my career. Watching someone have that “aha” moment – when they taste the difference between a Mudgee cabernet and a Canberra region one, or realise they actually do like chardonnay – is just the best feeling. It’s social, it’s sensory, and it brings people together.There’s an entire world to explore within a single state, and I’m here to guide you through it – one glass at a time.
