Are you a bread lover who has always wanted to learn how to bake delicious loaves of sourdough yourself? Look no further than this fun Sydney class with Marion!

Gather your friends and join Marion in her kitchen for five hours of hands-on making and baking. We highly recommend trying out this workshop with a group of friends who are also obsessed with this gorgeous artisan bread!

This workshop is also a great indoor activity idea for birthday parties, hens nights or team building activities.

Class outline:

  • Make your own sourdough from scratch, using only general household equipment, and learn all the tips and tricks to be able to do it again at home!
  • Learn about the fermentation process and make your own starter.
  • Make delicious sourdough crackers and pancakes.

During this casual class, you will also enjoy a gourmet grazing board in Marion's little urban jungle overlooking the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House!

Please note:
  • A minimum of three guests is required to run the class. If the minimum required is not met, the workshop will be rescheduled.
  • Sorry, this class cannot accommodate special dietary requirements.
  • If you would like the class to be held in your own home or venue, an additional cost of $75 applies which you can select upon booking.

Knowledge required
Beginner-friendly, no prior knowledge or experience required.
 
What you'll get
  • Your own sourdough in a banneton, ready to be baked the next morning.
  • Your starter in a glass jar and everything you need to feed it for a week.
  • Gourmet snacks provided.
  • All the tips and recipes sent straight to your email after the workshop!
What to bring
  • A big carry bag to bring all your goodies home!
  • BYO possible at no extra cost, limited to one bottle of wine for four people.
  • You will need a dutch oven or equivalent to bake your bread at home. If you don't have one, you can click the option to buy one below and Marion will source one for you to take home after the class.

Growing up in a family of French chefs, I have always been passionate about food and used my baking skills to make friends around the world (who can resist a beautiful cake made with love?).

I shifted my focus from cake to bread a few years ago and worked for a couple of months in a bakery to learn the basics. 2020 and its lockdown gave me the time to perfect my techniques using only general household equipment.

Making my own bread every week gave me so much joy and satisfaction, I now want to share my passion with everyone!

Fabulous experience. Class was well organised and well paced. Learnt so much from Marion. Loved her practical tips and positive approach. The lunch was fabulous with pancakes for dessert. The take home kit was well organised and the additional kits were great value. We baked our sourdough from the class the next day and it was amazing! Would highly recommend this class for bakers of all levels.

Marion's sourdough class was fantastic! It was well organised and structured, and the time flew by. Every bit of food was deliciousshe clearly knows her food and wines well! The class size is kept small, which means you can ask as many questions as you like, and Marion is very knowledgable and experienced. We left with full bellies, plenty of verbal and written information, and all the equipment and ingredients to get started on our own bread making at home. I'd recommend to anyone who's interested in a fun day or wanting to start sourdough baking. Thanks again, Marion!

Marion is a lovely, hospitable and very knowledgable teacher! A++ class - I'd definitely recommend

The class was held in Marion's beautiful unit overlooking the Harbour Bridge, which was a great view during breaks and snack times.

We were equipped with all the necessary instructions, ingredients and tools to begin one's own sourdough journey, and Marion set out an amazing spread with teas, coffees and gourmet snacks to be enjoyed throughout the class.

Marion’s class is incredible! It was so well structured and super instructive. She is an amazing teacher - so patient and warm with an amazing knowledge of the science of fermentation. The spread of snacks was also super generous! We nibbled on sourdough bread, crackers and pancakes as well as a lovely spread of fruit, cheese etc. Highly recommend. You also leave well-equipped to bake your loaf along with all the instructions you need to continue on your baking journey.

I learnt that no matter how many YouTube’s I watched on how to make sourdough Marion showed me all the techniques in detail and giving me the confidence to dive straight in.

Marion was fantastic, the time was filled well the spread of food over lunch-time break was more than substantial (and delicious) and her instructions were clear and easy to follow My first successful sourdough was the one I cooked the next day (in my photo) and I look forward to making sourdough for years to come using the techniques that I learned in this workshop!
