Spinning Wheel Taster Class

Have a go at spinning wool into yarn at this Hornsby Heights taster workshop!

3 hours Class size 1 to 3

label $150 (or 4 payments of $37.50 Afterpay)

Spinning yarn is an ancient art, still practised, but not all that easy to get set up to try. Why not come along to our workshop and try it out?

With everything supplied, you will learn the basics about slightly different spinning wheels, and practise spinning the wheel, drawing the leader and then spinning your first bit of fleece into yarn.

The mindful rhythm of spinning may be just what you need to provide mental relaxation while resulting in the production of beautiful handspun yarn that will be a joy to you, and anyone you know who loves textiles, knitting, crocheting or weaving.

Plus, we offer delightful refreshments in the comfort of a bushland studio, where you will hear only the sounds of nature and the relaxing whirr of the spinning wheel!

Please note: Public dates for this class require at least 2 guests to run. In the unlikely event that we don't reach this number, we'll cancel the class; in this case we'll inform you and allow you to get a refund or reschedule, so please watch your email/SMS one day prior to the class.

Your teacher

Discovering botanical printing and dying has lead my art practise down an endless path encountering the diversity of clean natural processes to create colour and pattern on paper and textiles. Sharing the experience with others reinvigorates my own curiosity, and the questions asked by participants creates a wave of energy that I joyfully ride. Publishing my first book, The Natural Dyers Notebook, Volume 1, was a direct result of the curiosity of others.
