Vegetarian Indian Cooking Class

Learn how to make a six-course Indian vegetarian feast with someone special

5 hours Class size 1 to 6     label $165

Learn how to create your own six-course Indian vegetarian feast in a practical and intensive workshop with a friend, partner, parent or colleague in a intimate group of 6 people or less.

Join writer and Indian food enthusiast, Bhavna Kalra, for an evening of wholesome goodness, as you learn all about the basics of vegetarian Indian cooking using seasonal vegetables.

You’ll come away with a whole lot of knowledge on how to prepare your curries, Dals, and vegetable dishes that will become a staple in your kitchen. Not only will this fun cooking class give you the confidence to get familiar with the spices and lentils that you can use in everyday cooking but will also give you practical tips on how to incorporate a wholesome Indian way of cooking in your daily life.

During the class, we will cover:

  • A history of the origin of the dishes we will cook during the class
  • Spices 1 – 2 – 3: A rundown on what spices do you need in your kitchen to cook Indian food and where to find them
  • Being a vegetarian with Indian cuisine

After the class, you will get to sit down and share the meal that you have cooked lovingly with your own hands.

On the menu:
  • Dal Fry in an instant pot
  • A delicious vegetable dish (one of our most popular dishes)
  • A base sauce to make your curries
  • Chickpeas or jackfruit curry with the base sauce
  • Lemon rice
  • Mushroom Korma
  • Stuffed flatbread

If you are doing a group booking for six people, we can change the menu as per your requirement. We also cater to food intolerances, so let us know if you cannot have one of the dishes below and we will arrange something else for you.

Please note:
  • This course is suitable for people who are gluten intolerant, vegan and/or vegetarian.
  • In unforeseen circumstances should we have to reschedule the class, we will notify you in advance and give you new dates to choose from.

A passionate cook connecting cultures with food. Serving real Indian feasts with stories.

On a mission to teach people that there is more to Indian food than Butter chicken and Rogan Josh. My love for food is infused with storytelling and memories so you can understand and appreciate where the ingredients came from and how easy it is to whip up a six to seven-course Indian meal any day of the week.

My partner and I had such an amazing time during this class. Bhavna was a wonderful host, who is very passionate about what she teaches. She shared with us a wealth of knowledge about Indian cuisine, spices and ingredients. She also shared the history of the spices and various ways they can be used.

Bhavna welcomed us into her home and made us feel very comfortable throughout the class. She prepared a booklet and a goodie bag for us to take home - including a number of different ingredients as well as very generous portions of all of the food we’d cooked together on the day.

Would absolutely recommend this to anyone who’s interested in Indian cuisine, regardless of their cooking skill level.

Bhavna was an amazing teacher, she was so warm, engaging and knowledgeable. We had a fun time learning how to cook a variety of delicious Indian vegetarian dishes and eating our meal together at the end. We left with plenty of leftovers, a booklet full of information and recipes, and a goodie bag with spices! I would recommend this experience to anyone, even a beginner cook like myself :)
