Looking for fun things to do in Sydney? Join this fun cake decorating class and learn how to create stunning vintage designs on delicious cakes!

In this detailed class, master bakers from the award winning Classic Cupcake Co will show you how to create these fashionable, ornate, gilded designs that have been popular since the 1700s. They are known as "retro" cakes because of their frilly, over-piped design.

The class will last approximately 3 hours depending on how many people there are in the class, and the previous experience of attendees.

Class includes:

  • You will be presented with a pre-baked six inch vanilla cake, freshly baked by our CCC chefs
  • Learn how to layer slice your cake
  • Learn how to crumb coat your cake
  • Learn how to mask your cake with our our freshly prepared buttercream
  • Learn how to correctly prepare and fill your piping bags
  • You'll be shown a range of vintage piping techniques and several different nozzles
  • Develop refined techniques for design creation
  • Get tips and tricks from the experts including working with buttercream
  • Personalised class completion certificate

At the end of the class, you will get a display box to take home your delicious, eye catching treat for your friends and family!

Pre-order one of The CCC's take-home Piping Kits at checkout and it will be ready for you to collect on the day of your class. These kits have been curated carefully by our expert team to enable you to replicate, at home, the techniques and skills you learn during class.

The kit includes 4 metal nozzle tips, 8 disposable piping bags, 1 glitter lustre dust, two bags of sprinkles and two gel colours.

What you'll get
You'll get to take home your creation in a presentation box to wow your friends and family. Freshly baked cake and delicious buttercream makes this a show-stopping centre piece for any table!
 
What to bring
Wear flat, comfortable, close-toed shoes as you'll be on your feet throughout the class. Long hair should be tied back. An apron will be provided.
 
Suitable for

This class is great for individuals and couples as well as for a birthday or hens party.

Suitable for adults, and kids (minimum 12 years old).

An adult must accompany any attending kids, and must pay for a separate ticket.

The Retro Cake Decorating class was very fun and the result was great. Hannah (the teacher) was very patient and communicated very well with why and how to do things. Small techique suggestions was part of the hands on experience.

Really enjoyed this class, the teacher explained and demonstrated each technique clearly so that I could easily achieve a beautifully decorated cake to take home.
Showed my friends and they were amazed at what I created in an afternoon . Will return to do some other classes for sure.

The class was great, teacher Sally was also great very helpful and friendly. Learnt a lot as I have never put a whole cake together before.
Only problem was noise as a 6 yr old party was going on in next room….suggest they time things better has hard to hear.

Was a very interesting class, definitely more of a beginners class than beginners/intermediate
I was a bit disappointed that we didn’t get to learn how to layer slice or crumb coat.
We were also not given recipes or any other hand outs other than advertising for the class. This was stated on the website when booking this class.

The workshop was very useful for me. The trainer was very friendly and and helped me to learn new methods such as nozzle work. The materials provided were of good quality.
The assistants were also very friendly and welcoming. Overall it was a very good experience and I look forward to do more workshops with CCC.

So fun! Anna was engaging and I liked how we got a demonstration before starting ourselves. There was also assistance and tips provided when we got stuck. The cake and frosting was delicious. My mum and I really enjoyed the class and I’d recommend it for Mother’s Day, birthday parties or as a gift! Will definitely try to make a retro decorated cake for the next friend’s birthday.

The instructor was really great. I would have loved to have been able to choose our colours (as was advertised on class description) and I would have loved to learn how to do the crumb coat and to ice the outside of the cake as I really struggle with that side of things so I was disappointed we didn't get to learn that.
