Description

This watercolour crash course is all about a playful, and fun approach to watercolour painting. It's perfect for those of you who are complete beginners and who want to get a concise overview on watercolour painting.

In 2.5 hours we'll be covering all things watercolour; how to set-up a painting, start a first wash, keep 'light' in your painting and how to work in the details. You'll learn to work a painting from scratch to finish.

It's a small, self-paced class; aiming to get everyone to work on their own projects, and to offer plenty of opportunity to ask individual questions as you're progressing on your painting. So feel free to bring in images of your favourite places, landscapes, animals or pets. No stress if you can't think of a subject matter, there will be some colourful flowers for a still-life scene as well.

This crash course is for you if you:

- Love watercolours, but not quite sure about how to get started

- Have a particular idea you want to paint, and would love some feedback along the way

- Want to get a concise overview on watercolour painting, and how to work a painting from start to finish.

----Please Note----

- This is a BYOB event, so feel free to bring a glass of your favorite.

- There will be some small snacks (but make sure to have dinner beforehand, or afterwards)

- All materials are included

- You'll be part of a small group of max 12 persons

- Minimum participation for this class is 5 persons

- Minimum age: 18 years

Held in a very nice studio, the instruction was a good balance between demonstration and personal feedback.

We absolutely loved the course! Malou was very helpful and inspiring. She had a one on one with all of us and was able to provide the insights and tricks specific to our paintings. None of the girls have painted in the last 10 years, so it was a great experience :) After the course, I have actually went and bought paints and paper :)

A fun and relaxing evening with Malou! It was great to have a demonstration and receive tips on techniques, then we were free to work on our own painting. There was plenty of opportunity for Malou to attend to everyone individually throughout the duration of the evening, helping us along the way.
Definitely recommend this workshop and thank you, Malou!

This was a great basic class to learn about water colours. Malou was lovely and demonstrated the basics of watercolour then we did our own. It was a fun class as we had some champagne and Manou provided nibbles. She also provided all the materials. I would highly recommend this class for anyone looking for a fun creative way to spend a few hours learning something new.

The teacher Malou, was lovely and all materials were provided. We sat at a large table in a delightful large open studio room. Instructions were given and lessons practiced before we attempted to create our masterpieces under Malou's guidance and supervision. It was a wonderful afternoon and we all painted some amazing pictures. I want to come back for more.

The water colour class was incredibly easy to book and Malou was very easy to communicate with to create a custom piece for a hen’s night. The finished product looked incredible and the instructor perfectly managed the group: assisting those who needing it and letting others go at their own pace.

We had such a wonderful time learning some watercolour basics with Malou in a beautiful Surry Hills studio. Malou is a very experienced teacher with such talent in watercolour painting (we watched in awe as she demonstrated some techniques to us on paper - painting a sliced watermelon the right way up for us, but upside-down for her). All materials provided were of utmost quality and there were even some yummy snacks too! Such a great class and very good value for money. I feel much more confident with watercolours now, and hope to be back for more classes in the future. Thank you, Malou!

Malou is a fantastic and professional teacher. Her studio is spacious, bright and welcoming. Everything was set up beautifully when we arrived and the guidance provided was perfect as Malou was able to cater to beginners (like me) as well as more advanced students. There is a lot of opportunity in the class to take it in your own direction or seek more guidance if you so wish. Thank you Malou for a lovely evening! Cat

Everything was set up, materials (and snacks!) provided. Good paint. The teacher was very friendly, hands on, helpful. We learned some good techniques at the start. I would have liked to learn even more techniques as a beginner. But overall great value for money compared to other classes.

Malou was encouraging and enthusiastic. She had some great hacks for watercolour paintings. The other students were really nice and there were many companionable silences as we zoned in on our work. Would love to do another course in the new year.

The Surry Hills venue was good - a short walk from central station, and the 10 of us had plenty of room on a long table to work independently. This 'crash course' is a good way to understand the process of water colouring and to appreciate how it differs from using oils and acrylic paint. We started with some practical exercises helped and then attempted something of our own design. This is an introduction only, and I think artistic results depend on being able to draw well to start with, and then a lot of practice with the water colouring. It was a fun evening and I enjoyed learning something new with Malou.

What a wonderful class. Malou was lovely and very positive and encouraging. Amazing value for money with all paints, brushes, paper, nibble and venue. Most classes are BYO all materials. The freedom to do our own pieces was great with constant support and feedback with a small group. I’m definitely going to do another as it was so fun the 2 and a half hours flew past.

We booked Malou for a Hen's event catering for about 13 guests. She provided all the necessary materials and light snacks. Malou is a great teacher and most importantly we all had fun! Some of us are now inspired to take up water colour painting as a hobby!

Thanks for a fantastic experience :)

Malou was a great teacher. All 5 students had not used watercolour before and she gave us all alot of encouragement.
We learnt about how to wash, blend and mix colours then we chose our own picture or used one of her still lifes.
She demonstrated how to start off and then individually helped us all.
The venue was awesome with comfortable surroundings, nibbles provided and nice chill out music playing.
The materials were of good quality and the value for money for this crash course was excellent. I just wish it went on for longer,it was over too soon!
Nice to take home my first watercolour, I was surprised my first painting turned out ok. It definitely helped having a small class too.
Highly recommend her class.

The studio was nice and comfortable for a small group event. Snacks were provided as well as champagne glasses. Malou was fantastic in explaining the basics of the watercolour painting and she was really helpful and patient to help us improving in our paintings.
My friends and I had enjoyed the class, and I would definitely recommend Malou's class to friends who are interested in painting and future groups activities.
