What you'll do
Are you interested in creating a sustainable garden at your home? In this workshop, you will learn how to build a water-saving wicking garden bed from reuse materials.
In this hands-on workshop you will collaborate with your group to create two functioning wicking garden beds. Wicking beds water plants from below. They're basically containers with water reservoirs at the bottom - like a huge self-watering pot. Moisture is drawn up through the soil via the wicking process, which evenly distributes moisture through the soil so that no water is wasted and plants enjoy better growing conditions.
The garden beds you will complete in this workshop will be used in our education garden. You can use the skills from this workshop to head home and create your own custom design that works in your space.
Please Note: A loud angle grinder will be used to cut the containers. Ear protection will be available.
