Forget standing in lines practicing the same move over and over. This workshop is all about getting involved, playing games, working through real-life scenarios and learning practical skills you can actually use.
You'll explore everyday situations that women face, like walking to your car, catching public transport, meeting someone for a date, or simply trusting your instincts when something doesn't feel right.
Through fun, game-based activities, you'll learn how to recognise early warning signs, set boundaries, use your voice with confidence and make smart decisions before a situation escalates.
No martial arts experience? Perfect. This class is designed for absolute beginners and anyone wanting to feel more confident, capable and aware in everyday life.
Come on your own, bring your bestie, your mum, your sister, your daughter (12yrs+), or make it a girls' outing.
You'll laugh, learn something new and leave with practical skills that could make all the difference.
What you'll learn:
  • How to spot warning signs early
  • Practical awareness and avoidance skills
  • Setting boundaries with confidence
  • Using your voice and body language effectively
  • Simple, easy-to-remember escape techniques
  • What to do in common real-life scenarios
Perfect for:
Girls' catch-ups with a purpose
Friends wanting to try something different
Mums & daughters
First-time self-defence students
Anyone wanting to feel more confident in everyday situations
No fitness level or experience required, just wear comfortable clothes, bring a water bottle and be ready to have some fun.
Because the best self-defence doesn't start with a punch... it starts with making the First Move.

Training Grounds is a Martial Arts gym in St Leonards, operating for the last 10 years.
Our goal is to empower individuals through Martial Arts, by fostering physical and mental strength, discipline and respect.
Our Women's Self Defence program has been running for about 8 years, and has been developed based on extensive research and real life experiences.
Through this research we know that women who have the confidence to fight back are much more likely to get away and escape serious injury, so THIS is what we want to give you....
The belief and confidence to know you CAN fight back!
What makes our course different to the others out there?
We use traditional Martial Arts techniques that are simple & effective, and we allow you to practice your new found skills with our Live action scenario drills!
This is where you get to put the theory behind the technique to work, and practice situational drilling with our team of (very brave) coaches, who are prepared to take a few hits.
We are located in St Leonards, Sydney and we can host a dedicated event for your team or join one of our courses. We can even travel to your workspace or club.
