Carving is my form of meditation. The single focus of tool cutting rubber helps me to destress - plus I have something gorgeous to print with afterwards. Carving stamps is relatively inexpensive, does not require a lot of space and is highly gratifying and addictive!
In this crafts class I will introduce you to my process of designing, carving and printing. I will share with you my materials, techniques and tips. We will talk about simple blocks, layering stamps and repeating tile stamps. You will then design and carve a small rubber block and then print with it, creating some beautiful stationery.
I have been developing my carving and printmaking skills since 2015 and love to create gorgeous art prints and unique greeting cards. Not only do I use stamps in my daily art practice but I also love to get crafty with homemade wrapping paper and gift tags.
Class outcomes:
- Breathe, relax, carve.
- Learn basic carving techniques.
- Create some beautiful cards and take home your stamp to use again and again.
None, but it might be a good idea to have a little think about a simple image that you might like to try and carve.
