I am a full-time high school Design and Technology teacher who is an avid lover of all things clay. I have enjoyed making throughout my years at high school and university and have found a medium that I am truly passionate about.

I studied Ceramics at UNSW Art & Design and discovered my love for wheel throwing around 4-5 years ago and have not stopped since. I am forever searching for ways to improve and build upon my knowledge of all things clay and have recently been sharing my passion for the medium through teaching pottery classes over the last year.

I am inspired by Japanese ceramics and have been learning various techniques that I want to share with the wider community to hopefully ignite a love for ceramics that reaches all.

This was a lovely relaxing class. The teacher was very clear in instructions & had lots of different tools for you to add your own style. She even had lots of Japanese snacks & green tea which i was grateful for the sugar hit after a full day at all the Sydney Craft week events.

Great fun class with Bernie! Good mix of teaching and practical, best crafts class I've done. Would recommend and do something similar again.

Another great class run by Berni!
Came back to do Level 2 which was a little more challenging (working with a larger piece of clay) but she was very present and guided us through her tips and tricks to ensure our pieces came along well. Can't wait to see it fired and glazed!
Really walked away wanting to create more kurinuki pieces Thanks Berni

Another fantastic workshop by Berni. The West Ryde venue is well set up, clean and easily accessible by public transport. Berni’s demonstration of techniques was clear and the class size was small enough to obtain one on one help along the way. Highly recommended for those who want to try kurinuki in a well structured / condensed workshop.

This class was so fun and Berni was so lovely! You can see her passion for clay through the way she teaches and how she shares her knowledge and experiences of it. She made the class feel very welcoming and safe to learn something new which is always nice when you're doing one on your own. The studio was also a beautiful space, lots of natural light and located very close to the station, so easy to get to. Very excited to see how my pieces turn out and very keen to attend another class run by Berni :)

Bernie was lovely and attentive to participants.
Lovely small space with basic facilities and close to public transport.
Workshop was timed well. Wasn't too long but enough time to finish the pieces.
Lots of fun!

Teacher was wonderful. She took the time to demonstrate all the techniques. The number of students was also good so there was enough time for all students to ask questions and receive tutoring.

Really fun class! Berni is very warm, friendly and makes you feel very welcomed and was willing to help you out at a drop of a hat. She was also very thorough teaching us the techniques but also encouraged us to create our own spin on things. My partner and I had so much fun, and we would definitely sign up again!

Berni was great in explanations and demonstrating what and how to approach the clay.
Nothing was wrong or too creative! Love the energy of the other people in the class.
Fabulous way to spend and afternoon exploring clay as a beginner

This was such a fun experience! Berni was such a helpful teacher (plus she provided great snacks and tea!), the venue space was lovely and actually making the pieces was really fun as well.

Bernie was just so lovely, patient and so, so positive and encouraging! She gave lots of lovely ideas on how to better shape our clay and to make different textures. I particularly enjoyed how she was succinct in her instructions and let us have ample amount of time to play and experiment with the clay. Thank you so very much !

I loved the class, we got to make two cups with whatever design we wanted. The teacher was lovely and provided green tea and snacks, unfortunately the snacks weren't vegan but that's okay. It was a lot of fun and we got the freedom to experiment with different techniques, and it was a very calm and peaceful environment. There was a bathroom at the venue which was great, but it wasn't wheelchair accessible since you'd need to get down some stairs to get to it and it was fairly small.

My teacher did well explaining every step of the process during the live demonstration. She answered all of my questions well and gave very helpful suggestions on how to create what I had in mind.
