Do you have a piece of old furniture lying around that you don't know what to do with? Come along to this furniture upcycling workshop in Summer Hill and give it some new life!
Bring your own small piece to upcycle (bedside, chair, side table) and learn how to use chalk and mineral paints to revamp your old furniture. Guided by your teacher, you'll identify which veneer, laminate and solid timber is best, learn how to make minor repairs and prep and clean.
From there, you will learn how to apply paint successfully and explore various decorative finishing techniques, making your furniture look brand new!
This is a customised workshop so you can select colours and finishes of your choice, and choose how you want your piece of furniture to look. Creativity is encouraged!
By the end of the class, you can leave with your new piece of furniture, as well as confidence to continue upcycling furniture at home.

  • 5/5 from Jennifer Comerford, attended Feb 2025: Loved this class! Have a house full of furniture that belongs in the 90’s which is too good to be thrown away but I didn’t know where to begin with upcycling. Was very excited when this class randomly showed up on my newsfeed and I registered immediately. Deb and Greg were wonderful, very supportive and knowledgeable, always ready to give us advice and inspiration to produce a final product we could be proud of. A lovely lunch was also provided. I would definitely recommend and will be back to do some more pieces!
  • 5/5 from Maria Gray, attended Feb 2025: What a fantastic workshop! Deb has created a welcoming, comfortable space and atmosphere. She immediately helped us all with ideas for our project and shared her deep expertise and extensive range of paint materials to help us with our projects. It was great to see what other people were doing and to learn as we each progressed. We all came away happy with our renewed pieces of furniture. It was a lot of fun and actually exciting to see what you could create. A little magic in the air. Deb and Greg provided a fabulous lunch of homemade sandwiches, 2 homemade cakes and a fruit platter. We were truly spoiled. I’m sure I’ll be back. Thank you both.

It was such a treat to have all the paint options available to use, and everything at hand. I learnt so much in a day, that it would have taken me years trying to learn on my own on the internet! Thank you so much.

Deb educated me on a range of different paint types, finishes and techniques before beginning our class. Through out the class, I was given a lot of valuable tips to get the desired outcome with my furniture piece. The morning tea was delicious and so is their workshop, which is filled with lot of natural light and really pleasant atmosphere. The quality and selection of colours was large and I got a chance to experiment and get creative. I was soo happy to show off my end product to my family. It was a lovely day well spent with a very warm and knowledgeable teacher as Deb!
