What you'll do

Have you always wanted to learn how to draw? At Sydney Community College we believe that anyone can and we are here to show you how!

Absolute beginners are invited to join the casual doodler over four weeks and sharpen up their pencil skills in a comfortable and friendly environment. You'll get to work with a range of drawing materials and different subjects to create art you can be proud of!

Techniques you'll learn:

Line and texture.
Proportion and composition.
Tone, shape and shading.
Negative space and perspective.
Contour and volume.

By the end of this fun course, you will have learned how to observe objects for drawing and be able to use different drawing techniques, media and structures to create works of art!

Note: Please refer to the 'what to bring' section for a complete list of materials needed for this class. Your tutor may request the purchase of additional low-cost items during the course, specific to the exercises. All students must be over 18+ years of age.

Absolute beginners welcome.

What to bring

Several pieces of thick willow charcoal
One compressed charcoal - square profile
Two solid (woodless) graphite pencils - 4B and 6B
Two drawing pencils - 2B and 4B
Erasers: one soft white rubber and one kneadable
Paper: A2 size cartridge or sketch pad

Please wear closed-toe shoes, old clothes and tie any long hair back.

Session repeats

This class series runs over 8 consecutive sessions, at the same time every week.
