You’ll get to hand-build two ceramic projects---small trays and a pinch pots, which you'll get to keep after they are fired and glazed.
For your first project, you'll work with Japanese-style wooden moulds to create delicate trays for your jewellery or food condiments and explore using Indian wooden stamp blocks to add unique textures to your creations. Your trays will be glazed with stunning opalescent glazes.
In the second project, you'll dive into making colourful pinch pots, which can be used as tea-light holders. Explore stencils and inks on clay and learn how to carve your own ceramic treasures.
The hands-on experience with clay can be a therapeutic and soulful Saturday morning, leaving you with a sense of accomplishment by the end of the class. These unique artworks will be glazed with beautiful mid-fire clear glazes in our gas kiln.

I’ve taught pottery for many years in Sydney, at TAFE, community colleges and after school lessons. I decided to set up my large studio at Oatley next to my house so I could run pottery classes and bring the excitement and creative fun of making pottery to more people. The studio has been equipped with wheels, kilns, slab rollers and glazes.
Teaching is a joy because I love to see people fall in love with their own unique creations and get so much pleasure from pottery.
I have many qualifications in pottery including a Diploma of Ceramics from TAFE, a Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours from the National Art School and a Masters and PhD in ceramics from Sydney College of the Arts (Sydney University). I have won many awards, including 1st prize at the Royal Easter Show in 2024, and my work has been featured in the Lark Crafts’ 500 Prints on Clay.
