Description


Step behind the coffee machine and whip up your very own masterpiece espresso-based coffee, in Roastville’s Espresso-Making workshop. Create a better version of the redeeming brew you hug between your hands every morning.

Under the guidance of Barista Champion, Andy Liu, develop the core skills needed to create the perfect cup and experiment with art designs.

Roast, grind and brew quality espresso. Learn basic cupping techniques, familiarise yourself with coffee flavours, gain an understanding of temperature, pressure and grind size. Develop an extraction curve, achieve a balance between espresso and milk, in relaxed environment with fellow coffee lovers.

1. Basic cupping
2. How to describe coffee flavours
3. Sensory training
4. Variables of temperature/pressure/grind size
5. Introduction of TDS (a measurement of coffee flavour concentration)
6. How to develop an espresso recipe/ extraction curve
7. Balance taste between espresso and milk
8. Espresso evaluation

Our teacher at Roastville, Andy Liu, was a recent NSW Barista Champion, placing first in a highly competitive process. He also won the World tea brewing championship in 2017.

Andy has taught students at all levels in the art of coffee and tea making, from absolute beginners, to other Barista Champions.
