France has a rich culinary history, from rustic foods, rich and warming mains to delicate desserts.

Learn an impressive French themed three course meal to impress your family at meal time or at your next dinner party. This class is beginner-friendly so don't hesitate to dive in!

Be guided and inspired by our French trained Chef during this hands on and interactive class as you work in pairs to create each of the classic French dishes in our three course menu:

Warm Asparagus Vinaigrette
A simple asparagus side dish that really celebrates fresh produce.


Duck a l’ Orange
Learn the art of cooking the perfect duck breast with an amazing orange flambe sauce.


Apple Tart Tatin
Sweet apples, perfect pastry and a dark and sticky caramel, combine to make this heavenly French dessert.


Dine as a group with your fellow participants and enjoy your restaurant worthy dishes with a glass of wine!


Knowledge required
Beginner to Intermediate friendly class, no prior knowledge is required. Everyone will enjoy and take away tips and information to match their level of experience. Small classes ensure that guests are able to ask the Chef questions at any time. Fun and friendly, yet professional environment.

Sydney Cooking School opened in 2010 when Executive Chef Brett Deverall pursued his dream to share his love andpassion of cooking in a fun and relaxed learning environment. Offering a range of cooking classes daily, our Neutral Bay venue is fitted with state of the art appliances and equipment from Fisher & Paykel, Breville and Anolon.

Our experienced and passionate team take pride in teaching practical, entertaining and informative cooking classes or hosting your next event.

We have a variety of themed menus and packages available, and our formats are suitable to anyone, from the absolute beginner to the more passionate cook. As well as our regularly scheduled classes, we offer masterclasses in Pastry, Chicken & Duck and Pork & Cider, as well as Children’s School Holiday classes.

If you prefer to be out of the Kitchen join us in our fabulous BBQ area for one of our Popular BBQ classes – Things really heat up in these classes so ensure you dress comfortably.

We loved our night at Sydney Cooking School! We picked up a lot of tips and techniques about French cooking that you only learn through practice. Particularly about the importance of timing, how to render fat and the secrets to making a great caramel. Our chef Brett was extremely knowledgeable and had lots of interesting chef stories to tell! Plus, our meal was delicious !

I took my teenage son to this class to further inspire his interest in cooking, and am very very glad to have done it! He was able to discuss what he learnt at his new school in food tech class and he has since been researching kitchen equipment to replicate the full menu at home :). Attended the French 3-course Blue Menu with Brett. Total immersion into a high-end French restaurant kitchen! Fast paced but extremely organised and efficient. Taking home many chef's secretes about how to master each dish. It's our second class and we have got plans for more. Good value, 3-in-1: learn, be intertained and have a delicious dinner (prepared using the top quality produce without any additives) complimented by good wine.

Such a great experience. Our Head Chef was Brett and he was amazing! He shared with us his great career experiences and we learnt really practical tips on cooking what - luckily - turned out to be, a delicious 3 course French cuisine delight.
Would definitely do this again for another French menu, or one of Sydney Cooking Schools other classes (like BBQ or dumplings).
The School is tucked away in Neutral Bay, but we made a night of it by staying in Sydney and enjoying VIVID - double bonus.

Paul is as great teacher - learnt sooo much. Seemed so easy when he told us the little tips and tricks, they will pimp up my cooking and I can’t wait to have people over and show off!
Venue was great, easy to get to - we had everything we needed and it was very relaxing.
We ate the 3 courses we cooked with a cheeky glass of wine, and all were restaurant quality - so happy !

Teacher Paul was absolutely brilliant. So full of knowledge, calm and very clear with instructions. Paul made us feel comfortable the whole time.
