Learn how to make a DIY closed greenhouse terrarium (yours to keep), in this fun and easy workshop at renowned Sydney florist and plant store, Merchant & Green.
Terrariums are made from a glass container containing small plants, moss and potting mix, accompanied by decorative elements. Terrariums thrive in indoor environments, and they're a practical way to bring some lush easy care life into our home or office. Terrariums take almost no effort to maintain, and can easily live for many years if you follow the tips from this class.
Held at Merchant & Green, you'll be surrounded by plants and flowers, and be provided with premium ingredients, including a glass container, a variety of decorative stones and cute miniature plants, as well as special moss and soil. You'll get easy-to-follow instructions, and the team will give you one-on-one feedback and tips along the way.
This is an interactive and relaxing class, and you'll have plenty of time to ask questions, reconnect with nature, and get lost in the moment. Run your fingers through the textures of the soil and the stones, and breathe in some glorious earthy scents.

Fabulous terrarium class at Merchant and Green today. It's a large size terrarium jar, with plants, living moss and all the layers included, so definitely good value for the price they charge. Do yourself a favour and book this workshop. I will definitely be back and want to try their bonsai for beginner class too.

This is the fourth time I’ve attended a class with Chris at Merchant & Green and it may be my favourite yet. Chris is knowledgeable and creates a relaxed environment that I love. We each brought home a unique terrarium with instructions on how to look after it. I would definitely recommend this workshop to all age groups. I found it especially suitable to spend time with elderly family members as the workshop is short and easy to follow with no physical effort required.

Teacher was knowledgeable with a fine selection of plants and materials made available to design and build your own terrarium. Enjoyed it so much that we were sad when it ended. Only improvement would be to see some completed designs and to be shown all the types of rocks before we stared to design our own terrarium. We felt it may have improved our design given we had never done this before.

Such a great experience! My friend and I really enjoyed ourselves. Our teacher was really lovely and full of plant knowledge. The working space, materials (vase, plants, soil, moss, stones and decorative pebbles) and guidance were all great. I got to ask a bunch of random plant care questions too which was a bonus! I absolutely loved my workshop at Merchant & Green! The store is absolutely beautiful and a wonderful place to spend the morning. Every step was explained thoroughly and included not only instruction on how, but why each step was important, alternatives we could use if we wanted to make a terrarium in future, and an explanation on the origin of the plants and how best to care for them. It was a really fun class and I loved the terrarium I got to take home. Would absolutely recommend this class to do with friends, or just by yourself - you'll make new friends as you work.
I was also very happy with the Covid safe measures - our workshop was grouped with people we had arrived with, but with adequate space from people in different groups. We were all provided a mask if we didn't already have one, gloves, multiple opportunities to wash our hands, and hand sanitiser. From a covid perspective, this class covered everything, and attendees can feel completely safe while they're at Merchant & Green.

I absolutely loved the terrarium workshop! The teacher was so relaxed and helpful and shared knowledge and tips for our plants at home as well as guiding us through our terrarium making.
All the equipment and items were beautiful and there was great variety of rocks, stones, plants and even little handmade, stone animals to put in the terrarium!
It was great value for money and I would definitely do another workshop here! The venue was beautiful and the work station was set up very well with lots of room and the teacher made us all a tea to sip on while we worked away! :) love

Loved this class! The location was lovely (at their shop in Bourke St), and Nicole greeted us and settled us in with a cup of herbal tea. Our tutor Chris was awesome, very knowledgeable and happy to chat about plants in general (I'm an orchid enthusiast and I got a few great tips). There were plenty of supplies, and Chris encouraged us to give our terrarium our own touches; everyone's looked individual and special. The class size of six was perfect, and my friend and I had a great time. Chris also gave us enough information about how to create our own terrariums at home. I thoroughly recommend this class!

I'm a nervous person but I had a lot of fun and despite the unfortunate power failure in the region, it was resolved quickly with romantic candle lights. Though the lights did eventually turn on again. Great people, service, plants and overall I love it. The terrariums turned out better than I expected.

My husband gave this class to me as a Christmas present and I was delighted with his choice. The teachers were friendly and knowledgeable, kept the class running despite the minor setback of a blackout in the area and were attentive to each of the students. We were shown how to build up our dry terrarium glass bowl with each layer of material, receiving information on the purpose of each and important tips on things to avoid. I left the class with a beautiful succulent terrarium and the knowledge of how to build my own terrarium at home. I learnt that it is possible to propagate new succulents from broken off 'leaves' and am showering TLC on the pieces I took home in the hope that I will be able to use some of them in the next terrarium I make.
The venue was lovely. I enjoyed being surrounded by the beautiful indoor plants and cut flowers. This class is highly recommended.

Class went around an hour teaching about terrarium drainage/filtering/soil mix. We got one large and small succulent from a large variety to choose from and had tips on decorating with lots of decorations to suit preferred decor.

My daughter bought me this terrarium making workshop for Mothers Day for her and I to do together. We were warmly greeted by Mitch and Chris on arrival and offered a cup of tea.
The workshop takes place in the flowershop front and whilst I initially thought the space was pretty small I soon learnt there was plenty of room. Mitch was a great teacher, he taught us everything we needed to know about how to build the terrarium to how to care for the succulents. Mitch was really engaging and great fun. Both my daughter and I thought this workshop was excellent and the end product was beautiful - we are very happy with out terrariums.

The store was fairly easy to find, all you have to do is look for the nice plants out the front. I would definitely recommend doing this class if you are at all interested in terrariums, the class makes it look easy and everything is provided.

My Neice and I were first timers to terrarium making and Chris was so lovely and welcoming. He was wealth of knowledge and made sure we knew exactly what required for each step. We are definitely delighted with our finished terrariums and will be back for another class.

Great class to do solo or as a couple. The group is quite intimate (5 people in total on Saturday). Chris was informative and knowledgeable about plants and happy to help with any problems! Would definitely recommend for people to do.

My first time making a terrarium and it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience, I enjoyed how you can customize it and it was a great crafting exercise.
I believe it is a nice gift idea as well, and I particularly like how the course provided some miniatures at the end.

I went to this workshop with my friend and I and we had a blast. Mitch (the teacher) was very friendly and helpful and was very knowledgeable about the process. All the materials were provided which made things easy, I would highly recommend this workshop to all ages!

Our group had such a fun session. It was a fantastic way to kick off a birthday celebration for my cousin and I. Chris is very knowledgeable on the plants and on-going care and the venue is lovely. We are all very happy with the final result of our terrariums!
Didn't stop chatting and laughing the whole time.
Recommend for a fun family/hen's/birthday activity.
