6 x 2 hours Class size 4 to 8     label $490

This six-week course is for students who have completed at least one beginner’s wheel throwing term, feel confident with the basics, and want to further their wheel throwing skills. You’ll learn how to throw and trim taller, narrower, and trickier vessels. By the end of the series, you will have refined your motor skills as well as improved confidence and control on the wheel.

Ceramic classes at Pink Ember Studio are relaxed, friendly, and LGBTQI+ safe, with a maximum capacity of eight participants per class.

Price includes 12 hours of class time, materials, and firing costs!

  • Week 1: Throwing taller and narrower
  • Week 2: Throwing vessels with obscure or thin necks
  • Week 3: Trimming for tricky shapes / Kiln & firing theory
  • Week 4: Throwing off the hump - repeated small vessels
  • Week 5: Trimming / attachments
  • Week 6: Glazing

Your teacher: Georgia Howard

Georgia (she/her) studied in Virginia, USA, and is a wheel-thrown ceramic artist and teacher. Her work explores functional ware with special interests in expressive forms and decorative glazing. As a teacher, she aims to create accessible learning environments for all students.

By coming to a ceramic workshop at Pink Ember’s specialised ceramics studio, taught by ceramic fine artists and very experienced teachers Georgia Howard and Aoife Billings, you are welcomed to be part of our community of artists and locals who regularly attend our events and workshops.


Knowledge required
Intermediate wheel throwers! It is preferable that you have completed at least one beginner's series or have practiced for 30+ hours.
 
What you'll get
Come away at the end of the term with a number of handmade pieces made by you!
 
What to bring
Towel - either hand towel or bath towel size.
Apron.
Drink bottle.
Session repeats

This class series runs over 6 consecutive sessions, at the same time every week.
