Looking for a relaxing and practical hobby this year? Join this hand building clay class designed for all skill levels.

In this hands-on class, you will explore your creativity and learn how to reproduce ancient Cypriot pottery, by using hand building techniques common in ancient times.

At the crossroads between East and West, Cyprus is an island rich in history. Pottery has been produced on the island for hundreds of years, and has been influenced by different cultures that the island has encountered. Pieces full of life and expression were exclusively hand made or with little to no tools.

You will learn:

  • Wedging clay
  • Pinch pot technique
  • Joining two pinch pots to make a hollow form
  • Rolling out a spout with a wooden stick
  • Slip decoration

Under the guidance of local Brisbane ceramicists, you will make a small/medium vessel, with some slip decoration. Your piece will be ready for collection approximately three weeks after your workshop.

Suitable for the best experience gifts in Brisbane or birthday gift ideas for mum, you can take home your own ceramic vessel as well as some newfound skills!
